Kennedy May Be Strongest for Senate in Illinois

The Chicago Sun Times says White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel "is privately telling folks Chris Kennedy -- if he runs -- may potentially be the strongest candidate for the U.S. Senate seat once occupied by Barack Obama."

"Kennedy, who runs the Merchandise Mart and is the son of the late U.S. Sen. Bobby Kennedy, is weighing his options. But top Dems are predicting Kennedy is going to run."

3. Son of Robert and Ethel.

Christopher George Kennedy was born July 4, 1963 in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the 8th of Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel Kennedy's 11 children.

4. I was confusing him with William Kennedy Smith
WKS does not have much of a chance to win.

5. I really think the Kennedy franchise has run its course.
Chicago is a multi-racial city, and Chicago is a place where a black politician has a good shot at being successful and achieving statewide and national prominence. Because there's no shortage of viable and qualified candidates, I'd like to see a black Senator come out of IL. I'm not arguing for a quota system, but I do think there are enough talented African Americans with sufficient profile in IL to run and win. We don't have much color/ethnic diversity or enough gender diversity in the Senate, and we need to do better in that regard. IMO.

That said, if Kennedy runs, Kennedy will probably win. Rahm's no piker in the "Playing God" game.
