I think Kathleen Sullivan may be Obama's choice for the Supreme Court, here is why...
Special thanks to DUer Thrill for pointing out this possibility.

Sullivan is the Director of the Stanford Constitutional Law Center according to this:
http://news.stanford.edu/news/2008/april16/germ-041608.html

Tonight we learned that Michael W. McConnell will step down for the 10th Circuit court of appeals to "direct the Stanford Constitutional Law Center."

What may I ask is Kathleen Sullivan going to do?

15. He might as well
The Republicans is going to go after his nominee anyway, he might as well as go as liberal as possible.

12. I know a "founding editor" of an academic journal
I don't think he's back to editing individual articles rather than managing the whole deal but they honor him with the title. That's what this reminded me of. Do SC justices teach in the "off" season?

7. This just points out the GOP judge will not be picked for the SC and will be
just one of many RW'er to bail out of the court and par take of riches in the corporate world before then end up being called to justify there shreding of the constitution.

EDIT: She appears to eat and drink this stuff for sustenance, and is a currently practicing lawyer as well. Sounds right up Obama's stated alley.

18. Maybe your suggestion, and because I haven't heard of her before
now. Maybe Obama hasn't either, but now he knows. I wish the best for him, us, and his pick, and I will support whomever he deems worthy enough of this vaulted position. Really. And I don't care what color they are, or their sexuality, or anything other than they will be themselves with a background that shows that's how the live their life.

That'd be nice.

19. I hear you and I would be thrilled with Sullivan
But I'd be rapturously thrilled with this gal, Leah Ward Sears http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=258x5577

And as I noted in my OP:

"Souter is retiring in June 2009. Ward Sears is retiring (from the GA Supreme Court) in June 2009. Coincidence? Oh, I think not! :) "
