Consider an email to the White House to register your objection to torture.
Doesn't have to be long.

Doesn't have to be explosive.

A sentence or two will do it, times as many of us as can weigh in.

It may help shape the debate.

1. Done
I said to prosecute.
I said if you're not going after those who tortured or authorized torture, then let the pot smokers out of jail.

3. Here is my e-mail:
I don't understand why there is any question about prosecuting torture. Why did it used to be a crime and maybe not a crime now? Is it because WE are the ones who did the torturing and before that it was another country? I agree that those who carried out the orders are in a dificult position, but those who ORDERED the torture are guilty. I have always been under the impression that NO-ONE is above the law. Why then are Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, et al being treated as though they are above the law? We need to stop this insanity once and for all, therefore I implore you to request that AG Holder appoint a special prosecutor to investigate. If a special investigator was necessary to investigate a "sex crime," I would think an investigation into war crimes would be a no brainer. Please, please do the right thing, Mr. President. The American people are counting on you.

4. Hi, spartan61. "The American peopl" indeed -- the vast, vast majority of whom did
NOT approve torture to be visited upon other human beings.

Thank you.

7. To you folks who have thrown in on this -- a big thank you.
It does seem impossible for a president to read all the communication that is aimed toward him and his administration.

At the same time there is a critical mass that must be achieved for meaningful reform to occur, no matter if it is in the matter of having the dignity and courage to remain in your chosen seat on a public bus or some years later, for our generation to contact the White House regarding the torture of other human beings.

It creates the ripple effect Robert F. Kennedy spoke about some decades ago in South Africa.

We will not necessarily get what we want right away. But we are digging in the dirt and planting the seeds that can grow later in a garden our grandchildren may enjoy.

11. Thank you. IMO, we just have to keep speaking out...
...through emails, LTTE's, calls until the job is done. Obama needs us to NOT go away. Thanks for what you do, too, in that effort. :hi:

:D

The more we let him know we are against torture and for prosecuting those who have allowed it in our names, we can get something going.

A quick, civil note gets the message across...:hi:

14. emails are easily ignored
Consider a phone call. Or a written postcard. A snail mail letter would have the most influence but they are diverted for irradiation and therefore take weeks to reach the WH.

A postcard is good.
