Norm Coleman - Takes the Obvious Route. Yet More Delay.
According to the Star Tribune Norm Coleman has asked for a further delay to April 30 to file his appeal. He then wants the Courts to give the Al Franken Team 10 days to review the papers in the "interests of fairness". Coleman claims that he appreciates that this is a time sensitive case but that "that the parties, and the Court, must be given enough time to fully develop and consider the issues on appeal".

As per the StarTribune
http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/senate/43429282.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUac8HEaDiaMDCinchO7DU

...In a document filed this morning with the state Supreme Court, Coleman's lawyers asked to have until April 30 to file their opening brief. They would give Franken's lawyers about 10 days to submit their brief, and then would plan to file their reply by May 15....

..On Tuesday, Franken's lawyers proposed a speedier schedule: Coleman's opening brief by Monday, the Franken brief by May 2 and the Coleman reply by May 4, followed shortly by the oral arguments.

The final decision on scheduling is expected by the high court this week. State law requires that it address election appeals as quickly as possible.

This strategy is nothing but obfuscation to deny the good citizens of Minnesota their fair representation.

1. If the situation was reversed, right down to Franken being ignorant of state law and bleating "don't
waste taxpayer money", how would the repubs act? Demanding Minnesota secede?

2. When he thought he was in the lead
he opposed any recount. The hypocrite.

16. Republicans ARE hypocrites. I think it's in their genes.
Dino Rossi (R-Shithead) did the same thing here in Washington in the '04 gubernatorial race against Democrat Christine Gregoire. It was a very close race, and under Washington election law, there was an automatic recount.

Still close, so another recount was done.

Rossi, when he was a few (and I do mean a few) votes ahead, he and his minions were saying that Gregoire should do the gracious thing and concede. She said no, because it was so close (and candidates DO have a right to another recount after the automatic one).

Well, when the second recount was done, Gregoire was ahead (again, by a few votes, but it was a few more than Rossi had when he was ahead).

He did the same flappin' thing Coleman is doing, pitching fits and going to court, etc.

Apparently, the only "gracious" losers the Republicans will accept are Democrats.

Fucking asswads are all alike.

4. Jis antics today remind me of the whipping he got
from a proper Socialist.

The only one time I ever supported George Galloway was when he completely took down Norm Coleman. I wonder how that played in Mn?

6. Can Reid do anything?
Can the Democratic Party just force an acceptance?

7. Thats what should
happen in my opinion, time for Reid to step in and stop this nonsense.

This is turning into travesty and Democrats has to put a stop to it.

It brings back memory of 2000, when Bush and his henchmen grabbed power
the people of Minnesota have got to do something about this.

8. I know it is Reid
so there may be difficulties in the guts department (as well as I am unsure how it plays with the balance of certain Democrats who like siding with Rethugs), but what could any strong Senate Leader actually do?

11. Have a read of the linked article.
The comments from residents are not exactly displays of happiness towards Coleman.

13. You mean like these? :)
"Coleman is becoming more and more a toadie in control of the butthole republicans. They want to keep Franken out of the senate as long as possible in case they have a close vote. This has gone long enough. How about the citizens of Minnesota filing a lawsuit against Coleman for obstruction of allowing a duly elected senator take his seat."

14. Yep and more
Coleperson is doing himself no favours and needs to go away and stop wasting the money of his rich Republican pals on lawyers.

Alternatively, Reid should seat Al, which would allow Coleperson to waste as much of his billionaires money as he wants whilst not affecting democracy.

I hope when he finally loses thte State goes for full court costs.

It is getting ridiculous.
