Other places to shop besides Amazon ...
Edited on Mon Apr-13-09 04:13 AM by nilram
Okay, sure, Amazon, it was a glitch. Here's my glitch -- somehow my browser won't go to your site when I want to buy stuff. I know you sell lots of stuff, so here's a list of sites my browser will 'glitch' to when I'm spending my dollars.

For book shopping, there's Powell's. Huge inventory, also sells used books and they're still family owned in Portland, Oregon (and supportive of gay rights).

For kitchen stuff, there's Kitchen Kaboodle. Also locally owned in Portland, Oregon, and pretty darn liberal.

Music.
CD Baby rocks. Used to be locally owned, now owned by some big-ass company I know nothing about, but they still sell music from independent artists.

Music Millennium Rocks. Locally owned (in, yes, Portland, Oregon) and it looks like they
sell both new and used CDs on their web site (though I just found new at this time).

Maybe the "glitch" was an honest mistake. But if it was, they should own up to it. Until they do, my browser will continue to "glitch" too.

Others? What other *m*zon departments need "glitching"?

1. Odd place to post this subject.
conventional GD might have been more appropriate. Notwithstanding that I've never had a problem with either .com or .co.uk

I generally only ever buy music and DVDs on Amazon and am happy with used anyway.

2. I've heard good things about CD baby
I know The Freedom Toast first put up their political satire CDs there and were happy with the results.

3. CD Baby is terrific. What a delightful bunch of people running the show
there.

As good as it gets in music places.

6. support your locally owned businesses
even if it requires you turn off your computer and leave your house. They are there when you need them but they won't be if we buy everything online. Find a locally owned bookstore (CD store, kitchen store etc) and shop there. Keeps the money in your community and you meet some interesting ppl)
