Our new president's first trip across the pond-can we wish him well?
Whether you love him or love to diss him, I want him to have a successful trip. I can't imagine he will be met with as much disdain as the person he replaced, but please, for all of us, may he make a positive impression, Amen.

1. I wish him the best. He will do very well. He is very well liked abroad, regardless of what some
of the MSM are trying to push.

16. Oh no! I hope you are kidding. I love her style, but I haven't seen her today. Was it bad?
Its just for the plane ride, anyway. She'll probably change after the long international flight.

33. NOT.
Others may be; checked C-Span. They've got a delay of some sort, OR they're waiting for 'substance,' to go live.

14. When this U.S. President steps out of that plane in Europe he's one I'm
proud of.

That last guy -- eh, not so much.

All good wishes to a very good man. I hope there are some landmark and wide-circulated interviews by European press with President Obama.

27. Hi Saltpoint! Speaking of Europe, my next foray will be to Portugal!
It's another wonky art intensive with a CT museum, so I'll be in museums and Roman ruins and such, not lying on a sandy beach in Evora like normal tourists to that country. But hey, I get 5 days in Lisbon and then on to Coimbra and Porto. Love those old European cities...

28. It's your Old Europe Tour, 2009!
And a damn good one, from your description, too. I predict you won't begrudge one second of your time in those museums.

You follow Barack and Michelle from our shores to Europe. I like you 3 representing us a hell of a lot better than when Bush and Cheney and Rice were.

Bravo, and get over there and kick some butt.

at kicking some serious butt artwise. Glad I'm going when Barack is Prez and not idiot boy...

37. October. Well, it will come soon enogh, and the whole thing is
going to be glorious.

I hear you loud and clear on visiting abroad when Obama is in the White House and not that other guy. Your description of Bush as "idiot boy" rings true. Ideas never interested Bush. The whole Bush clan is not into ideas. They're into money and manipulation. And definitely not museums!

How could he leave the economy in shambles like that? :puke::puke:

20. I don't think so. He's doing his job, going to the G20, etc. If they
try to castigate him, that's their problem, not President Obama's.

26. I like the feeling of knowing....
...that our President isn't going to embarass the country when he goes abroad and meets with foreign officials.

The last guy in office...you could pretty much bet he was going to pull some sort of gaffe...and I don't mean the 'trip and fall down' kind. Anybody can do that...

I mean the kind where somebody is too self-absorbed and aggressively ignorant of other customs to realize they've either massively insulted somebody and/or made themselves look like a buffoon.
