Lieberman Now 'Gushing' For Obama
Lieberman Now 'Gushing' For Obama

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/03/09/lieberman-now-gushing-for_n_172995.html

WASHINGTON — Sen. Joe Lieberman has changed his tune on Barack Obama. After campaigning across the country for Republican John McCain in 2008 and attacking Obama as naive, untested and unwilling to take on powerful special interests, Lieberman now showers praise on the popular new Democratic president.

"He's shown real leadership," Lieberman told The Associated Press in an interview. "Bottom line: I think Barack Obama, president of the United States, is off to a very good start."

The Connecticut independent, who faces re-election in 2012 in a state where Obama is popular, is eager to mend fences with Democrats still fuming over his criticism of Obama during the general election campaign.

Lieberman has applauded Obama's national security team. He gushed over Obama's "inspirational and unifying" inaugural. Lieberman even played a key role helping Obama win Senate passage of the economic stimulus plan.

1. He must want something
Lieberman sticks his finger in the wind and decides that Obama is popular so Joe will cheer.

I suspect Joe is tired of being out of the limelight and would like to be standing next to Obama.

7. God what a turd
He's just happy to be in the majority party. Otherwise, he would have languished away in the GOP among such luminaries as Bunning and Cornyn. His threats to bolt were idle and pathetic. It would have been great to see him called on his bluff...

But I still think Obama played this well. At the time, I wanted Lieberman kicked out and still would have loved to see it happen (of course that wasn't Obama's decision anyways). But by keeping Lieberman in the Dem. tent, we can extract some concessions and maybe some gratefulness like he did on the stimulus. After all, we still need his support without 60 votes. Plus, Franken's not seated either. So by keeping Lieberman, Snowe, Spectar, and Collins Obama should have some success getting large parts of his agenda through the next few years.

Lieberman has no loyalty to anyone but himself. He's the weasel of weasels, so of course we can't trust a damn thing he says.

9. Whatever.....we must NEVER, NEVER, NEVER forget that if McCain had stuck up
to the GOP and done what he really wanted to do, Joe Traitorman would have been the Republican VP nominee....meaning, he would have been out and about, day after day, attacking the DEMOCRATIC candidates.

Never trust him.

Never let him get comfortable.

Keep your mug puckered, Traitorman, and maybe somehow you'll dupe people into reelecting you...hopefully not!
