David Muir reported on ABC News tonite...
Companies stating that they need to pay big bucks to keep the best.

The rebuttal was that where are they going to go considering the job market?

1. Where will "the best" go?
Indeed.

If they were really "the best" we wouldn't be in this damn mess.

2. considering the reduction in wages in the people they hire to deal with the public
it explains that they don't want the best when it comes to customer service.

or sales.

3. How's that been working out so far?
If they didn't get "the best," they'd be going to hell in a handbasket. Oh, wait!

4. You know what's hilarious? Companies talking about "talent" in their executives.
Like this new job-search website advertising only "100K-plus jobs for 100K-plus talent."

Makes me laaaaauuugh.

5. They have it backward..
Edited on Tue Jan-27-09 06:59 PM by SoCalDem
Those Big-Buckers seem to have FAILED miserably.. Perhaps they should turn the company over to some underlings who probably do the actual work anyway..

Fire the boards of directors and the CEOS, and run those companies with a board made from EMPLOYEES, and maybe a lottery within the regular stockholders' pool.. First priority..solvency of the company, well-made/durable/safe products, and contented employees..

Highest paid BOSS cannot make more than 10 times the LOWEST paid...

6. a lot of corporations, with their overpaid, underperforming executives, seem more like
giant pyramid schemes, passing ridiculous salaries and perks around to one another.

7. If the best they can get have bankrupted their company, it's time
for them to revisit what the word "best" means.

Who are they trying to kid? They're like Al Qaeda. When one leaves there are a 100 ready to replace them. There are plenty of people whose backs they climb on on the way up who are a hell of a lot more intelligent and more qualified but less ruthless and who would do the job for a nth of what these gluttons get. And they would make the company profitable.

This is the epitome of the old boys club. It's far past time to clean house.
