2. At least they didn't drop the Bible!
Well, at least no one dropped the Bible. (That happened at one of Franklin Roosevelt's inaugurations).

7. Coolidge, I believe. As stated in another post on this he simply said
"I do" rather than repeat the oath verbatim. So he took it again, repeating it.

Dammit...the more you repeat the right wing meme that Obama flubbed it, the more you help deny the truth of the matter. Roberts fucked up and deserves reprimand for putting the President's legitimacy in any jeopardy whatsoever. He's supposed to be an expert on the Constitution. That's his entire job. And he royally fucked up.

5. I actually loved the flub.
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 08:20 PM by liberalmuse
It was fun even though a USSC Justice ought to know the fucking oath of office better than a "muslin terrorist"! However, I could do without the asshats who really ought to read their Constitution. My god, I better not hear any shit from a Republican ever again. I'm so ready to put the first Republican fucker who dares say any shit about President Obama in his/her place.

14. In my world ..it turns out it was a good thing.
The timing wasn't as good at that particular point in time for the beginning of a new presidency. Now, it has to start from today at what ever time and the Justice Roberts did us a Cosmically Ironic Favor.

Anyway that's the way a lot of people look at it:)

6. Coolidge was sworn in by a notary public (his father)
Upon learning of Warren Harding's death, Coolidge took the oath at his father's home, where Coolidge was visiting. There was some doubt as to whether or not this was legal, and he took the oath again from a federal judge the next day just to be safe.

11. Did they mention any Supreme Court Justices who Flubbed
it like Roberts? Just askin' since Obama didn't flub it but Roberts did and Obama spent all last night being gracious about it.

But, for once the media had it right.

15. These are the guys that tell us what the Constitution means!
Before he enter on the execution of his office, he shall take the following oath or affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

17. Those who retook it predated the 20th amendment
The 20th amendment amends the constitution to say that the term of the president started at noon on 1/20 because it states that the terms of the successors begins.
