Reposting an apology to the Iraqi people
Edited on Thu Jan-15-09 09:55 PM by catgirl
I posted this in Aug. 2007. The events going on in Gaza made me want to search for this post. It is my farewell
to George Bush. May I point out his contribution to turning a blind eye to peoples suffering. In his world, it is
okay to destroy lives.

To the Iraqi people, I am so sorry:

1. Rec and:
If while driving your car, you were the direct cause of an accident that physically harmed folks. Wouldn't you pause to render what aid you could to your victims?

Who is directly responsible for over a million refugees from Iraq?

Who is directly responsible for the countless deaths in Iraq?

Who is directly responsible for depositing America's nuclear waste material in large areas of Iraq rendering those areas utterly unfit for human habitation for (quite literally) millions of years?

Who is directly responsible for the theft of one of Iraq's most lucrative natural resources?

Why are electric, water and sewer services substandard to what they once were under the hussein regime in Iraq?

Why are hospitals and schools substandard to what they once were under that same brutal dictator in Iraq?

Which nation is leading the charge in promoting democracy?

Hopefully, the citizens of Iraq, especially those who once suffered under an 'elected' leader, will understand how we also "suffered" under our own 'elected' leader.

Hopefully, someday we will find a way to pause our madness for a brief moment to render aid to our victims.

A thousand shoes to our own heads if we don't!

2. Just numbers.
Iraqi refugees outside Iraq: 1,500,000 - 2,000,000
Iraqi refugees inside Iraq: 2,500,000+
Iraqi civilian deaths due to violence: 90,000 - 1,000,000+?

These numbers made possible by:
GWB

The media that went along with GWB's war of choice in the beginning and later, studiously looked the other way at the appalling human cost. The media's outrage is confined to 4,000 American casualties...

The American people. We live in a democracy. We are responsible.
