What we're up against (take a look)
This is a graph of each candidate's "cash on hand" in millions of dollars before the most recent filing period:

I apologize for the small font, but I think you get the picture. If the graph were to be updated to show Bush's current $99m cash on hand, his margin would be even bigger. Scary, is it not?

1. After the CURRENT Quarter, Clark Has the Most Cash on Hand
But yes, Bush blows all of us away, that's true.

3. It's ok....
as long as we have a top notch candidate!.....which we will, if Seabiscuit gets the day.

We'll give them the truth....and they'll think it's hell...Harry Truman....resurrected by Wes Clark on September 17, 2004 upon entering the 2005 Presidential race.

Repeated by copy cats since then....

2. It's a good thing that cash is not the same thing as votes.
But admittedly it does make things more difficult.

6. Yes it is scary.
That's how they win. They have enough money to brainwash the public. And it's not just the money for campaigning; it's the money of all the right wing special interest groups, the power they have because they own the media, etc.

7. I'm not all that scared of the money.
Edited on Thu Jan-08-04 06:08 AM by rogerhall
*We* have raised just as much money as Bush (well, close enough). *We* will raise enough when the nominee is named.

One thing Dean's campaign has right for sure - there are 2,000,000 people with $100 who don't want another Bush term.

Thanks for the graph - but it aint nuttin but a thang. :}

8. Now add up the 9 Dems
You'll find they aren't that far apart.

As long as the nominee has a clue how to raise money, they should be alright. They should have about half the money Bush will for the fall campaign.

9. But the money can't be added up
it is specific to the primaries only.
After the conventions, Bush and our candidate will both be using public funds.

By the time our candidate is decided, Bush will have run almost $200 million in ads against whatever small slice our guy has raised.
And most of the money raised by our candidates will be spent very early. We won't have much cash to spend all through the spring and summer months, which is when Bush will unleashed his warchest.

Yes, it is pretty grim, indeed.
The best thing we can hope for is as many candidates as possible drop out as soon as possible and rally around Clark.
As long as you Dean people cling to this unrealistic fantasy that Dean will be the winner, the longer Dean saps much needed funds away from Clark.

13. That's about right
Edited on Thu Jan-08-04 08:27 AM by Clark Campaigner
I'm not sure if each party gets GE funds right after their convention, or if they have to wait until both are over, or if there is some fixed date.

But either way we're in for a long, bumpy ride with not a lot of gas...

10. Unless the * campaign is going to distribute their money to voters
to get their support, bigger isn't always better.

Let them repeat their lies and let our candidate rebut them with confidence and authority.
