Why cool?

1. In tough econmic times...it's great to see that a few million Americans are going on vacation to DC. This should really help the economy.

2. It's also good that most of the money is privately funded as opposed to being all tax payer funded.

3. The money that is tax payer is well spent keeping people safe and secure. With medical and security personel.

Good job Obama!!!

2. Not just DC.
Yesterday I picked up a pair of boots and thermal underware at the locally owned sporting goods store. I grew up in the bay area and Santa Cruz, in 40+ years I've never owned a pair of thermals... Today at lunch, it's off to the Goodwill for some cargo pants. Can't bring a bag, and I have to carry it all in. Oh, the camera was bought for this trip also. Tomrrow the taxi driver gets a sweet tip for the ride to the airport.

Costly? Yeah, I'm shaking my head at this. But there are no movies I want to see until Watchmen. I'm just about to drop the cable, as I rarely watch TV. So it's still in budget and there is no way that I would want to miss the party.

4. Pumping $$$ into the economy nationwide.
People are using planes, trains, automobiles, buses to get there. They are buying new clothes to attend the parties. Staying in hotels & motels and eating out while they are there. All that adds up to spending they would not otherwise have done and spending that DC, the surrounding areas, and the hometowns of people from all over the nation wouldn't have seen otherwise.

Only the ignorant would see this as a bad thing. Or the disgruntled b/c their pony didn't win the race.
