I think Obama needs to detach himself ASAP from this whole damn mess in Illinois.
We elected him to be the POTUS. The more he gets stuck in the details of this, the more he is going to be drug down into the manure. These issues are easily side stepped.

Question: Senator Obama, what should happen to Blago.
Answer: That is up to the people of the State of Illinois to decide.

Question: Senator Obama, what should happen in the Senate.
Answer: That is for the Senate to decide.

Obama needs to concentrate on the big picture. You know, depression, war in Israel type of stuff.

Jimmy Carter got stuck in the details, and it did not work out for him very well. I hope that Obama don't make the same mistake.

1. Once again
if the Senate could back Lieberman they should be able to seat Burris.

3. This all a temporary tempest in a teapot.
Relax, this whole mess will be settled in
the next week or two.

Obama will be fine on this score. Corruption
is not a real issue with him, it's his embrace
of rightist memes and the appointment of rightists
that are the problem.

7. I hope you right. But what I have seen, the wheels of justice grind at a very slow rate. This
could very possibly go on for months. It is funny how seemingly small things can become enormous over a given period of time.

9. It's not up to him. He's from the corrupt state. That's going to be something he'll battle
for his entire time in the job.

10. You may be right. He is from Illinois and this is about Illinois politics. I know there are going
to be many more scandals down the road regarding politicians and their appointments.

I, for one, don't want to see Obama become the 'go to' man on what is to be done about it.

I notice politicians are generally succesfull when they don't get too involved in the workings of other legislative bodies (the senate) and state's issues.

It seems that when they do concern themselves with it, they do drug down into it somehow.

It may have been unavoidable in this instance, I just hope that an overall pattern is not developing here.

12. Well, the pattern is nothing new. IL, MA and a few other states have
"crony" problems. Sometimes that stuff "sticks." It's almost impossible to completely extricate oneself.

He'll blow it off, but the media will continue to "associate" him with the issues.

It's nothing he can do anything about, in any event, save ignore it, which is likely what he will do.

If his PR people and his Chief of Staff are any good, they'll "change the conversation."

11. As far as I can tell, he has already detached himself from this thing.
I see no real cause for your concern at this point...

13. Yes, he must stand up right now and declare himself to be from Indiana.
Or maybe Iowa. Arkansas would be nice twist--or how about TEXAS? I bet nobody would ever argue THAT one...

You have to know how silly this all is.

15. I think he's one step ahead of you.
Notice that lately, he's hardly said anything at all, and his public statements have been on other things, like say that stimulus package for the economy...
