1. Burris is simply an idiot. I wouldn't call Caroline an idiot, but she definitely has an unimpressive

resume compared to the others hoping for the NY seat.

As for being an opportunist, I'd say they are equal.

2. Neither
CK will be a great Senator. She is quite accomplished on her own.

Burris was lawfully appointed to the seat. I don't like it but the law is the law.

4. burris came out in december
calling for Blago to step down. he has completely changed his tune since. I would suggest that makes him a pretty big opportunist.

I agree with you on CK.

5. An appointment is an opportunity, so that means they are technically opportunists.
It seems to me the crux of the disagreement is displeasure with the idea of the appointment rather than those seeking one. Some are unwilling to accept the fact that appointing a replacement is protocol per the Illinois and New York constitutions respectively.

The Blago/Burris soap opera will keep us entertained for a while, hopefully until the Illinois legislature impeaches the insolent governor.

Caroline Kennedy is super rich. She doesn't need the money or the aggravation that goes with the job of Senator. She is doing this because she wants to serve NY in the Senate. If Governor Patterson were to pick someone else, Caroline will serve in some other way.

13. Neither.
Burris was appointed by a governor, albeit it a governor under siege from his own alleged misdoings.

CK may or may not be appointed by a governor to the same job.

I'm not picking up any opportunism here.

14. I'll say Burris, but honestly he doesn't look like he'd make a bad senator.
He's no Thomas Hart Benton, but he seems... well... clean.
