Bush's meme--flip-flopper. What do you think Kerry's should be?
I think it should be: Do you really want 4 more years of this? Or are you ready for a change?

1. You've identified one of the Kerry campaign's
problems. Lack of a coherent message. Flip flopper may not seem like much but it has been powerful and effective.

18. I didn't say it was
coherent. It is effective in large part because of the repetition.

22. And You Are Absolutely Correct
It took months of repetition - and an extremely lazy media - but it is taken for granted so much that Jay Leno can say it and everybody knows what he is talking about.

19. Hear, hear; but let's go with "incompetence" instead
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 12:14 PM by PurityOfEssence
He's in it for pure self-interest: lowering his personal taxes, looting the treasury for his friends, using our fear to settle old family scores, crushing workers' rights to benefit his friends.

His METHOD is misleading and out-and-out lying.

What should be shown, though is how absolutely incorrect they've been in every judgement. They're not up to it. They pay attention to the wrong things, misinterpret everything to fit their already-decided worldview, and screw up everything they touch.

It's a little late in the game to play the meme thing. That should have started back in March, when the WH started in on Kerry.

Oh well, live and learn. What's another four years?

12. Isn't the problem that,
with Bush, there are just too many choices to single out just one?

Liar, failure, drug abuser, wastrel, cheerleader, slacker, destroyer of the environment, war criminal

I always want to ask any Repug the simple questions-"Is HE the best you can do? Do you REALLY think he is bright and competent enough to be the leader of the Free World(or at least Leader among the Countries we haven't alienated irrevocably)? Shouldn't you at least have tried for a "B" student? Can you possibly hold him and his life up as an example for your children?"

Oh, I forgot, none of this matters as long as he is someone you'd like to 'drink a beer with'. :argh:

How are we in a virtual dead heat with this numbskull? I give up!!!!

15. Bush 's "Wrong choices for America"
Economic policy that loses American jobs. Health policies that protect Big Drug Companies while millions lose their insurance. Loosening rather than tightening environmental protections. Failure to invest money in real homeland security; ports and nuclear power plants inadequately defended. Give a way tax breaks for the rich, looming deficits our children will inherit and a depleted treasury for baby boomer retirees. A nation more divided now than when he came into office. Wrong war, wrong way, wrong choices one and all.

16. There is no peace to spread.
Bush keeps talking about spreading the peace. There is no peace to spread.

And more:

Clinton in Ireland gets a hundred thousand welcomes. Bush in Britain gets a hundred thousand protesters.

Bush put both the Middle East and North Korea on the back burner in 2001, and at a horrible cost in terms of security and lives.

Bush wants to cut Paris Hilton's taxes. I think the middle class should get any tax cuts.

Bush wants to mortgage our future and our children's future.

Bush doesn't honor the elderly, the environment, or the veteran. Why should we trust him with them a minute more?

24. "W " stands for "Wrong"
"W" stands for...

It was catchy, short and memorable. Kerry stayed with it ONE day.

The meme has to be repeated ad nauseum by Kerry, Edwards, surrogates and every concious Democrat to be effective.

Nothing will work if you don't repeat it.

28. memes for bush (manipulatable) and Kerry (man of substance)
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 01:45 PM by andym
Bush is already protected by his public persona: not too bright, but honest, Christian etc. So any meme has to start with his current one. Therefore Bush's should be "manipulatable," because he's not too bright, this leads to flip-flops and lies etc. Also, this leads to the way the public is manipulated.

Kerry's meme has to build on who he is. Since he is bright and serious, he should thought of as a "Man of Substance." Appearance is important for memes, so tie him into Lincoln (tall, serious, a man of principle), and maybe Jay Leno, tie him in to Jay's one-liners and to Jay's satirization of the rich and powerful. Kerry's attacks on Bush should invoke satire to discredit Bush as a tool of the rich and powerful. Satire should be funny, but pointed.
