Why Illinois really got screwed by this whole Senate thing
Obama resigned early in part, to give Illinois the ability to get their new Senator seated first in what will be the largest new class in generations. Election night produced new Senators in NC, NH, VA, CO, NM, AK, ID, and NE. Add in replacements for Biden, Salazar, Clinton and Obama and you have at least 12 new Senators. If we win MN we have 13. In a body in which Senority is everything Illinios lost at least 11 places out of 100 and possibly 12. Plus they lose a Senator for a few months. A general, all around screw job. Nicely done Blago.

2. Rod Blagojevich only gives a damn about Rod Blagojevich.
Yes, he fucked us over big time. In every way possible.

BTW: there's the real possibility that if the Republicans get their act together here in the next couple of years, we could lose not just the Senate seat but the Governor's Mansion in 2010. In no small part because of that asshole Blagojevich.

3. It would have to be a rather mild Republican that can actually take that senate seat.
Illinois is still very much Obama territory; no Republican is going to win his former senate seat without pandering to the Obama base.
