2. Other...
I think McCain is a mercenary. He's looking out for number one and a possible future Presidential bid. So he appears as the affable, fair-minded centrist when he's on the Daily Show, he denounces the Swiftboat ads for the crap that they are, but then he turns around and endorses Bush with a smile. He even said (on the Daily Show) that both Kerry and Bush "served honorably." I'm sorry but I don't see how you can think both Kerry and Bush served honorably unless you're trying to appeal to as many people as possible. I'm not saying he has to change parties, but neither did he have to so publicly endorse Bush. He could've been in the background of the convention and just let things unfold. Considering the way Bush smeared HIM during the 2000 campaign, I really have to wonder HOW McCain could possibly endorse him with a straight face, Republican or not. That makes me distrust him immensely, because he seems likable enough but is willing to telling anyone just about anything they want to hear. That doesn't fly with me. Who is the real John McCain?
