Denver Post: Congressman John Salazar on the "short list" to become Secretary of Agriculture

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_11128582

Colorado congressman John Salazar is on the "short list" to become Secretary of Agriculture under president-elect Barack Obama, sources have told the Denver Post.

Salazar confirmed this morning that he "may" be in the running for the position.

He issued the following statement today after being contacted by the Post:

"I am humbled that I may be under consideration as a possible nominee for Secretary of Agriculture. Should President-elect Obama honor me with a nomination to Agriculture, I would certainly consider it. However, at this time, I am continuing my work on behalf of my constituents in the 3rd Congressional District and preparing for the many difficult challenges facing the 111th Congress."

2. Leave John there..
Appoint his brother Ken instead - so that way we can pressure Bill Ritter to appoint a more progressive Senator in! Ken is a DINO and needs to stop representing us in the Senate.

3. Now that is a fine idea! Ken has disappointed me as a Senator.
But he is from an old farming/ranching family here in Colorado and knows the subject well.

7. John isn't that "progressive" either.
But I also say leave him alone.

I'm getting the feeling that Obama wants to award a post to some Coloradoan just because we helped him win big in this state. I've also heard rumors of a post for Hickenlooper. How about an appointment for some one who isn't holding office right now? Gary Hart, Roy Romer?

4. But There Are No "Gangs" in The Administration
God knows the Salazar brothers are incapable of doing anything without each other or joining up in a couple of those "gangs" in the house and senate. Both have terrible judgment of character and are wanna be republican's.

6. Might be a good way to neutralize them. Both of them would benefit
from having to follow orders from a democrat for a change, as they're entirely too likely to gang up with the conservative wing of our party and/or with republicans.

9. Wrong Salazar
John Salazar is the Rep from CO-3.

DeGette is the Rep from C0-1.

Both in the House.

11. I misread it also and am extremely disappointed it's not Ken...
and if it was Ken then I agree with this OP that Diana Degette would be a great replacement.

10. Salazar is good but is Jim Hightower being considered?
He would be great.
