Is Juan Williams a Dem.? You'd never know it!
William Kristol said today that Obama is NOT change, claiming he wants to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan (which he always said he's going to do by bringing troops OUT of Iraq), that he's following BUSH'S schedule of draw-down in Iraq and not what he proposed during the campaign (which is a lie that the draw-down schedule of troops was Bush's idea-he didn't want ANY schedule of withdrawal AND Obama said he STILL will bring the troops home in 16 months). he's going to be a strong partner with India, (when did he ever say he WOULDN'T be?), he's going to fight terrorism (which he ALWAYS said he'd do), he's going to work with NATO, (again, when did he ever say he WOULDN'T?), he said he's going to increase defense spending and the size of the military (AGAIN he ALWAYS said that), and he's going to follow Bush's foreign policy (another lie). And the WORST part is Juan Williams AGREED with him on that!

8. Oh yeah! I thought at the time it was a great move for exposure to people who wouldn't
otherwise hear him. That's when I thought he was going to run for president.

to claim they're "fair and balanced." :eyes:

He does *adequate* journeyman reporting, but beyond that he's a dud.

He once compared David Letterman to Mass Serial Killer John Wayne Gacy while
defending O'Reilly.

his actions are not a surprise. Faux packages him as a liberal Democrat, something he obviously is not.

21. I am so old that I can remember when Juan Williams was black
When he first started on NPR he was actually pretty insightful. But back then NPR wasn't corporatized yet.
Williams and NPR have basically swung right together. So I am never surprised when I see NPR talking heads on FUX or any other corporate media. There is little difference among them any more. Mara Liason? Cokie? More in itr for the bucks than anything far as I can tell.

22. LOL!
I remember a more thoughtful and intellignet Williams from years ago. Either he decided to get paid and sell his soul or as a younger man he was able to hide his right wing beliefs better.

One thing is certain, he quite often spouts total nonsense and rarely calls others out for lying.

28. That's funny!
I guess I AM younger than you, because I don't remember those days. And yup, Mara Liason is ANOTHER Faux Dem. So is Mort Kondracke. It's a shame that the corporate media took over like that. What's even worse, though, is these same people claim the media is LIBERAL.

33. Juan has become such a disappointment
I believe he grew up conflicted because he was born outside of this country in the Panama Canal.

I used to watch him early on Sunday morning where he moderated a program called America's Black Forum. It was a great program and often had black conservatives and liberals discussing issues. His black history books have been very good.

When he first came to Fox he tried to represent liberal views, I guess he got tired of being smacked down by Brit Hume. I guess he finally gave in.

27. Other than Kristol spinning it as "not change", the specific items
are true - as you noted. The problem is that the way Obama wants to do nearly everything is very different than what Bush did. Kristol is also looking at what Bush moved to within the last few months. (On Iraq, they tried this before the election- Kerry did a great job in clearly answering that Bush moved to Obama's position of a time table..

This is an attempt to argue that Bush did the right things - and part of the proof is that Obama is following them. The fact is that in the last year, Bush has changed his position 180 degrees on many things - Rice was actually doing diplomacy in the middle east - after Bush was against it for 8 years. This is a bid to influence how history sees Bush. Kristol, as a lead neo-con, has a vested interest in that.
