4. I doubt that's all Obama is looking for.

It was said over and over again in the primaries, and I still think it's true, even though I hate that Lieberman and his cronies think he got away with anything: Obama plays chess. I think he's doing it here, even though we have to wait to see it play out.

I really don't think Obama is the type to let anyone slander him the way Lieberman did and take it lying down. I think he's channeling his reaction in a way that will have a long-term benefit, rather than going with the knee-jerk reaction to kick Lieberman out of the Senate.

That may happen in good time if the voters of CT get it together...but until then, Obama probably has some plans in place.

3. Letting Lieberman get away with all he's done is just asking for trouble

He stabbed our Party in the back to get Republicans to elect him in CT. Then he stabbed us again when he supporter McCain and Sarah Palin all throughout the presidential campaign....all the time telling everyone how Obama would be bad for America.

And then we reward him for all of that. Not good.

But it was a large gesture by Obama...

It reminds me of my hero, Muhammad Ali... When it was brought to his attention that people in his entourage were stealing from him he said not to pursue it as the people must have really needed the money...

7. Actually,I think it shows Obama as being even tempered

and forgiving. He pretty much campaigned the same way,too.Maybe he's just sees no upside to beginning his administration with a bloodletting. I don't say this in defense of Leiberman but Obama is trying to transcend petty politics and maybe he figures Leiberman can do him no harm and vengeance isn't where he wants to go.
