Here is a letter I submitted to my local rag:
Dear Editor,
A friend and myself had made it an effort since last April 2007 to have an Obama table at the Farmers Market on the Capitol Square every Saturday and finished up with the last one the weekend before the election.
Having met thousands of people from the region and all over the World, support was always high and as the election came closer, people were very confident we would make history. And we did!
However, there were several people who thought Obama never had a chance. That's fine. Generally, we would talk for a minute or two and they would move on.
But there was one person who was adamant that America would never vote for a black man, that Obama was too liberal and even called him a socialist and other nonsensical accusations. He also bet me in August 2007 $1,000 that Obama would never get the nomination and never win.
The problem is that I misplaced his information. If he reads this, I'm sure he will accept his losses and pay on his bet. I fully don't expect him to pay, since he appeared to be a bit mentally unstable or incapable of actually being in a position to bet.
Signed,
Happy Obama Supporter
