Funny business in Pennsylvania?
Someone in my office who lives in Monroe County received, unsolicited, an absentee ballot for tomorrow's election. She wants to vote tomorrow at her polling place, and is worried they won't letter her because the records will show an absentee ballot was issued. I can see how signing random people up for absentee ballots could help gum up the works at polling sites and encourage people to leave. Any idea whether she'll be able to vote a regular or provisional ballot if she shows up?

2. Republicans send fake ballots, tell people the wrong time or place, and all of that shit....
Anything to suppress the vote.

3. She should take the absentee ballot with her.
If it's a legitimate ballot, she can fill it out and drop it off at her polling place. If it's not legitimate, she can vote as per normal.

4. Re: absentee ballot in PA
First of all you have to apply for an absentee ballot to get one. In PA you must have a valid reason for voting absentee and noone legitimate hands them out like lollipops. If she didn't get one and send it in by Oct 31st then she should throw the one she was sent in the garbage and go to her polling place to vote.

5. Make sure she takes it with her and have her check in with the legal team at her poll
My understanding is that the Obama team will have attorneys in all of the swing states tomorrow at most of the precincts. Before she goes in, it would be good for her to go on record with an attorney if possible to say that she did not order the absentee ballot and there should be no change in her voting status when she goes to vote.

6. Call the county voting office today
It will be easier to resolve the matter today instead of tomorrow. Have the person call the County voting office ASAP. They will probably tell her she can vote at the polling place because the absentee ballot was not received.

Absentee ballots needed to be received by last friday, so that option is gone. But do not throw it away, and make it clear that you never requested it. A signature of the voter was required to request the absentee ballot. The voting office should look at the signature to see if it was an obvious forgery.
