I haven't been this happy in eight years.
Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 06:46 PM by Mike 03
I don't know what to say except, I am so happy tonight.

Not the most profound post I've ever made, but I just can't repress it.

I'm so happy, that I'm simultaneously laughing and crying. I'm just so happy. It feels too good to be true. I'm a nervous wreck, but at the same time I know for the first time in a long time I'm going to win,

I promise, no more garrulous, purposeless posts like this. But you have to admit, it's been a long road. I hope it's okay to be/feel a little but nuts. I am definitely feeling quite crazy at this moment.

I can only ask for your foregiveness.

1. Sure has!! Like the lyrics in Peace Train
Now I've been happy lately,
thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be,
something good has begun

Oh I've been smiling lately,
dreaming about the world as one
And I believe it could be,
some day it's going to come

Cause out on the edge of darkness,
there rides a peace train
Oh peace train take this country,
come take me home again

Now I've been smiling lately,
thinking about the good things to come
And I believe it could be,
something good has begun

Oh peace train sounding louder
Glide on the peace train
Come on now peace train
Yes, peace train holy roller

Everyone jump upon the peace train
Come on now peace train

Get your bags together,
go bring your good friends too
Cause it's getting nearer,
it soon will be with you

Now come and join the living,
it's not so far from you
And it's getting nearer,
soon it will all be true

3. I'm laughing, I'm crying, I'm making a total fool of myself.
And I don't care....

Not only that, but my first pic for President will be my VP.

I've never felt such joy in my life. Before this, every one of my candidates has lost.

5. I'm not letting myself do "happy" until Tuesday night...
...but it has indeed been a shitty millennium so far, and it's high time for a turnabout.

6. I know...
For many years I would get up, turn on the computer, and say "OMIGOD!!!... I can't believe this is happening!" every day.
After a few years I sank into despair and accepted that our government was out of control.

It'll feel good to hear a president speak with distinction and clarity for a change.

8. I Bought A Bottle of Champagne
I don't drink anymore - but on Tuesday, I plan to celebrate, cry, go over to local BO headquarters and gets some hugs and high fives. Of course that's after the polling place I'm watching over closes, whether it be 7,8,9 - until every voter has voted.

11. Yep, 8 years since
we saw Dan Rather have to pull FLA from Gore's column. I remember it like it was yesterday. My 9 year old boy at my side; now a HS senior waiting for his college acceptance letter.

I am happy now too but will be ecstatic if Tuesday turns out as we hope!

12. it hit me today at work
and while I was surrounded by around 45 + McCainites (Palinites is more like it), I almost started crying with joy.

It just came out of nowhere.

the thought.

On tuedsay, my country might change. On tuesday, I believe my country is changing.

I believe that on Tuesday, a great man will be elected President and an equally great man will be VP.

I believe that on Tuesday, my world will never be the same. I will always believe after Tuesday that anything is possible, that redemption is always coming, even after a long, dry spell.

My heart is beginning to soar with joy and it's overcoming the FEAR that has dominated defeat after defeat in the search for justice and sanity.

My eyes welled up as I worked...secretly safe in the knowledge that on Tuesday, the things I believe in so deeply and passionately will have a voice. I'm a different person these days than I have been in the past 8 Dark Years of Hell.

After 2004, I had to leave the country for a while to mourn.

Thanks for getting me through, DU.

15. I'm "working from home" on Wednesday as I'll be up blogging and watching election coverage.
My wife told some of her classmates that if the election is stolen, they'll see me on the 10:00 news.
I may have mentioned to her that I wouldn't consider my work done until pepper sprayed and detained.
