McCain's smile is gone.
I'm watching a scowling, angry man on CNN right now.
The weird rictus-like grin he has flashed, seemingly at random, during previous speeches is gone.

And now he looks around for Joe the Plumber.
"Isn't Joe with us today?"
Looks around...confused.
"I guess Joe isn't with us today. Well you're ALL Joe the Plumber."
Jezz, he doesn't know who is with him on the campaign trail this morning?
I think it's over.

4. He is scowling and sneering. He sounds like he's sick and looks paler than usual.
Lying about Obama's tax plan again.

He's also stumbling his lines of attack.

All this "straight talk" while Exxon Mobil posts a profit of $14.8 billion.

6. I wonder if last night's Obama special got to him.
His stump speech seems to be about 90% attack Obama and Biden and 10% what McCain will do.

In other news, Palin is polluting the airwaves with lots of hot gas lies this a.m.

7. What an unappealing candidate McCain is!
Short-tempered, irascible, rude, whiny. Always complaining about something. Angry and bitter. And way, way over the hill.

10. The Thrill is Gone
The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you'll be sorry someday

The thrill is gone
It's gone away from me
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although, I'll still live on
But so lonely I'll be

The thrill is gone
It's gone away for good
The thrill is gone baby
It's gone away for good
Someday I know I'll be open armed baby
Just like I know a good man should

You know I'm free, free now baby
I'm free from your spell
Oh I'm free, free, free now
I'm free from your spell
And now that it's all over
All I can do is wish you well

24. Joe the Bummer.
Thank god! I had a conversation with a very high level friend today, and she isn't doing well. Without Pennsylvania we could be in trouble. And the swing voters are dingbats.

But the one thing she mentioned that has also reverberated in me is that McCain has had the same nonchalant air as did Bush even when he was not winning in 2000 and 2004. He knew the fix would kill the opposition.

So as long as the smile is gone, I can breath again.

What should be an extreme monster of a landslide, is turning out to be a nation relying on swing idiots.

27. Actually: Scowling, the puzzled silence from the audience
washes over him. He raises his arms robotically, a jerky impromptu movement fueled by his rage, fearing the worst has come to pass, that even his base might be deserting him. Et tu morans?

Then, a harsh voice emerges from his scrawny throat, his wife stands dutifully behind him, head darting right and left like a dazed bird alert for a hawk, the silence pushes him to speak, hoarsely he shouts into the lifeless microphone: "I guess Joe isn't with us today.

By royal fiat, in the twillight of his candidacy he be-knights his listless audience with the meangingless phrase, "Well you're ALL Joe the Plumber."

Political movements die with a whimper, not a bang.
