Bush looks to lift Republican morale

US President George W. Bush paid a surprise visit Tuesday to his Republican party's headquarters, pushing staff to work hard for struggling White House hopeful John McCain, a spokesman said.

"During the visit, he encouraged them to work hard for John McCain and keep turning out the vote until the final ballot is cast next week," Scott Stanzel told reporters.

If recent public opinion polls are to be believed, the Arizona senator faces an steep uphill battle to win his White House race against Democratic Senator Barack Obama -- and some veteran Republicans in Washington fear a rout.

During the visit, Bush also thanked the staff "for all of their efforts during this election cycle and for their support of him over the last eight years," said Stanzel.

2. Want to motivate people? Stop by the Dem party HQ.
It'll remind them why they are Democrats.

5. He was probably forced into doing it.
I would bet he doesn't give a damn at this point in time. Can hardly wait to get to his new mansion in Texas. I wonder if he will sell the pig ranch.

7. That's about the only thing that could save McCain - Bush turns himself in
and claims it was John McCain that convinced him to do so
