I L*O*V*E Sarah Palin
She has the rabid right frothing at the mouth in her 'defense'. They haven't done this much damage to themselves as a political force since they desecrated the passing of Terry Shiavo.

Everywhere you look on the tv they are shouting down valid, centrist criticism by painting her as a victim; even while they trumpet her as the savior of the Republican party.

The "Reagan Coalition" is history and I'm proud to have been present at its none-to-early demise.

2. Saint Ronnie's disciples will wander in the wilderness forever.
When Sarah just hits those points over and over, it seems soooo 1980. She's too dumb to realize that same old snake oil sales pitch doesn't work on anybody anymore except for her fellow bags of rocks.

6. GOP Draws Internal Battle Lines Around Sarah Palin
With the GOP looking more and more set to fracture as the possibility of electoral defeat looms, the cannibals' knives are out. Consider this quote, via Yglesias:

Jim Nuzzo, a White House aide to the first President Bush, dismissed Mrs Palin's critics as "cocktail party conservatives" who "give aid and comfort to the enemy".

He told The Sunday Telegraph: "There's going to be a bloodbath. A lot of people are going to be excommunicated. David Brooks and David Frum and Peggy Noonan are dead people in the Republican Party. The litmus test will be: where did you stand on Palin?"

Hold it now. They're serious about going all in with the Palin loyalty test? Uhm...apparently so! Nuzzo adds:

He said: "Win or lose, there is a ready made conservative candidate waiting in the wings. Sarah Palin is not the new Iain Duncan Smith, she is the new Ronald Reagan."

These fools are in for a rude awakening when they finally come to understand the meaning of the word "coalition" - especially in the context of "lack of".

7. I will never get over the Terri Shiavo gambit
Of all the things the Rethugs have done, this one is permanently etched in my brain. The sheer fucking audacity to trample all over this woman and her husband in a grandstanding hissyfit, with George W. Bush at the helm, Faux News with the oars, will never be forgotten, nor forgiven.

8. I think a lot of people feel that way.
It was the straw that broke the camel's back with regards to public acceptance of the fundie agenda. I think they are similarly overreaching now in their blind support of Palin. They've been working so long to get one of their own at the top of the ticket that they are banking everything on her.
