Drudge LIES again
In an interview in 1991, Barack Obama said it was a "tragedy" that the civil right movement became too "court focused" and did not spend enough time (in his view) pursuing policies aimed at improving the economic lot of African Americans.

But Drudge lies by characterizing those remarks very differently. While Obama said, basically, that the courts were acting properly and within the law, Drudge's headline says this:

"2001 OBAMA: TRAGEDY THAT 'REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH' NOT PURSUED BY SUPREME COURT"

This spin has to be shot down now. It is clear from the context that Obama was not talking about any kind of "forced redistribution of wealth." but merely using the term "redistributive" in a narrow, academic sense, meaning policies that would allow African Americans better economic opportunities than were available in the early 1960s.

3. Ignoring the right-wing spin machine is a mistake
That line will no doubt be picked up by Fox News and talk radio and hammered all day. The Obama campaign -- and its supporters -- have an obligation to respond quickly.

10. You folks don't get it
It won't be just Drudge. These things are coordinated. This will be today's BIG talking point. That is why we need to respond -- not to Drudge, but to the mis-characterization that will be pushed today by Fox, Rush, Hannity, and much of the MSM.

9. Its pretty hard to shoot down 'a spin'.
I don't think you need to be terribly concerned about Drudge calling Obama a socialist because of some out of context quote from years back. Obama is being called a socialist daily by McFailedCampaignIsOutOfStuntsAndNobodyCanStandThatWoman for proposing to adjust the tax burden more in favor of 95% of the people of this nation, words he is saying right now. That shit don'
Obama has already shot this crap down: McCain supported nearly identical tax policies in 2000.

16. More like the cut n' paste job Drudge on the RNC did on Gen. Clark..
in 2004 where they cut n' pasted General Clark's congressional testimony pre IWR vote, to make it appear that General Clark supported it. Once the bloggers provided the true transcript to the news organizations Drudge and the RNC quickly scrubbed their cut n' paste jobs from their sites.
