What's lost in the Ashley Todd story is...
Before her story was debunked, Barack Obama released a statement wishing her a "speedy recovery." It's obvious that this woman is mentally ill and clearly needs help. It's nice to see the person she was trying to vilify in her attempt to gain attention offered her nothing but sincere concern, while the McCain campaign tried to use this incident as a political football.

I think that reveals a lot about both candidates character, IMO.

1. I think what's being lost in the media's "oh the poor dear" coverage is the RACE BAITING.
Yeah, she's mentally ill. Give her a fucking cookie. I think she knew exactly what she was doing, except that she wasn't bright enough to not carve the "B" in backwards.

3. Yep. I agree with the OP and you too - BOTH messages are lost in the "news" media's version...

...of the story.

Funny the stuff they DON'T report on, isn't it? They just conveeeeeeniently leave it OUT.

This is why I never trust the lame$tream media - they slant and misreport damn near everything, and leave MAJOR facts and important points out of their reporting. They're useless.

9. Well, I have to give it to Larry King.
He devoted a whole segment to her race baiting and wouldn't let Bay Buchanan get away with saying it had nothing to do with race.

10. Exactly. And to the parrots, "mentally ill" = "too stupid to not get caught"
Edited on Sat Oct-25-08 02:53 AM by chalky
To them, the symptom of being mentally defective isn't that she made false accusations against an anonymous Obama supporter. In fact, they probably would have beamed in admiration for her if she'd been able to pull it off. But B-girl went and got caught, which to them is the real symptom of her defect. Or even that she didn't have the republican fortitude to stick to the LIE even after she'd been busted.

2. You are so right.
The Obama camp responds with concern and class. The Mc camp responds like vultures.

4. Ashley Todd is a racebaiting troll. WHY she is such is beside the point.
I'm glad Obama can rise above any anger he might feel over this. I'm not such a big person.

I'm gonna vilify her to my heart's content. Poor Ashley, my ass.

or forgiven.

however... i can still feel sad for her, but it doesn't remove the responsibility.

5. The Obama camp's statement was pefect.
It was equally appropriate whether the attack turned out to be real or a hoax. Brilliant, really. Like everything he does.

6. I heard the female police officer mention the race baiting
indirectly, as to how her lies could have cause great problems.

Of course, that's the thin ice the creepy duo (mcpuke + pukin) have been aiming for.

8. Good point. Reminds me of the town hall debate.
All McCain talked about was how well he does with folks during these "town hall" settings.

But when the debate was over, what does McCain do? He jets off minutes later. Obama on the other hand, stays for a good twenty minutes and actually talked with members of that town hall group.

Same thing with this Joe the Plumber thing. When was the last time Palin or McCain gave that much time to an undecided? Granted Joe wasn't really undecided, but Obama took the time to talk to the man. McCain nor Palin wouldn't give an opposing view the time of day.
