November 4th is the moment of truth. It's depressing to think DU might be down on the very day it was created to serve. I'm sure every precaution is being taken to insure that won't happen again.

18. I think it will be rather subdued. People will be posting just to commiserate

with their fellow Dems as the swing states that seemed sure things for Obama only a day or two before begin falling into the McCain column one after another. There will be a lot of "BRB" posts as the disconsolate make trips to the liquor store. There will be a lot of soul-searching threads with a stream of "what ifs" and "where did we go wrongs," accompanied by much hand wringing. An MSNBC stagehand will be seen attempting to wipe away the tears from Olbermann's face. Brokaw will struggle to conceal his delight. Wolf Blitzer will moderate a panel that marvels over how smoothly McCain snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Only Jack Cafferty will be seen banging his fists on his desk. Speculation about how Sarah Palin is going to remake the Senate in her own image will abound.

It won't be pretty. But we'll make it through if we just remember we all have each other.
