The Dangers of Demonizing
The past month, Sarah Palin, then John McCain went down a dangerous roda, that they cannot back out of now. They employed the tactic of anger, hate and demonizing. They started tying Obama to terrorists. They told their supporters to fear an Obama Presidency. They called him a Socialist. They called him the "other". They referred to his supporters as anti-American, or not real Americans.

While, this is a losing campaign strategy, it is not benign. It didn't and won't win over any Independents, Undecideds and actual drives away moderates, like Colin Powell.

The real danger in demonizing an opponent is that you cannot tolerate them. You cannot compromise with them. You can no longer see them a human. They have trained their supporters into seeing Obama as not only un-American, but non-human. Limpballs openly says this, now. This is the kind of rhetoric used to send people to war. Hyper-nationalism depends on seeing the other as less than you, as less than human. That is the only way to get what would be rational people so afraid that they would be willing to kill or be killed.

The McCain campaign has been training their base for bloodshed. And, this is something that they cannot undo. Every attack on an Obama supporter, comes from them. Just this week we have read about dead cub bears wearing Obama signs. Tires slashed at rallies. Volunteers being attacked, working door-to-door. Angry mobs yelling at citizens exercising their right to vote. Effigies hanged. Signs burned. Cars smashed.

The McCain Mob will self perpetuate, now. McCain and Palin are SOLELY to blame. As things get worse, and they will, they should be held responsible.

As I said before, I am not worried about Obama's safety. But, rather the safety of his supporters, who live in the neighborhood of the rabid mob, who have been enticed to violence.

1. Spot on.
I am glad there is only a few weeks left.

Then they will be put out of their misery.

2. I agree, there's a link to a petition on line
holding them responsible for any harm that comes to Sen obama or his family. I don't have the link handy, but it was posted on here a few days ago.

I have to run to the airport or I'd find it for you. It was very official, and clearly written by a lawyer. It really made me feel great to sign it-- because they can't claim they didn't know now.

3. ITA
Here is a thread I posted earlier about a vandalized car here in Texas.

Some of my neighbors support Obama but are afraid to put Obama signs in their yards. It's pathetic that we tolerate this type of campaign from someone running for President. McCain and his goons should have been disqualified for fanning the flames weeks ago.

4. Mark my words, this will end badly
What the repubs hve been doing is creating a mob. Mobs don't go away on their own. When Obama wins, they will want vengeance.
