Keith Olbermann had the guts to tell the truth when no one else in the msm ever would.
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 09:16 PM by IsItJustMe
Keith Olbermann referred to Rush Limbaugh as racist. Everyone in the msm knows it, but no one that I know of in the msm has ever said it.

I love it when people tell the unvarnished truth.

My hat is off to you Keith Olbermann.

31. Yep, whatever he has got, it is something we could all use more of, especially the people in our msm
especially after the last 8 years. The way I see it, KO was also the first person, as far as I know, the only person in the media to straight out call GWB either stupid or a damn lier, heavily leaning on the latter.

...yet the media treats it like the gorilla in the livingroom...

Being from GA, I've noted the media ignoring or covering for blatant conservative racism for years...

30. Um... you realize it took 40 years for any GOP "rise" in the South.
The South voted for Clinton (with the exception of Virginia) both times. It supported Carter during his first run, too.

If Nixon's so-called "Southern strategy" actually had worked, it sure did take a long time to actually go into effect.

As it is, the South is starting to peel back around the edges and moving back into the blue column.

I really get tired of the South-bashing when there is no definitive proof that racism or the Southern strategy actually even worked. Seriously, it took nearly 40 years for the Nixonian strategy to take effect? Doubtful.

What changed in the South was GOP-radio 24/7. Outside of Memphis and Atlanta, most Southerners never hear a liberal on the radio whilst commuting to work. As a result, their only exposure to liberals are the phony charactures ginned up by the conservatives.

Want to change the South's voting habits? Buy a radio station and staff it with some real liberals.

19. I giggle like a school kid
When Olbermann KOs Fat Man Limbaugh and Bill'O with the truth knowing that neither Rush nor Bill can respond in kind because that would send the Ditto Heads and Billouts to check out old Keith. And if they listen to KO they may question the mushrooming they'd be getting from the Zen Masters of Crapola Rush and Bill.

35. That exact thing happened with a friend of mine. Listened to Rush, O'Lielly, Hannity
et al constantly, never considered there might be other perspectives out there.

Quite fortuitously, this woman loathes John McCain and likes Palin even less. I suggested a couple of months ago she might enjoy KO and Rachel and, voila! It's been interesting watching the lightbulb turn on in her brain. Just today she remarked that she can't believe she was so blind for so long.

I don't think he has any real thoughts in his head other than "what lie should I tell next" in order to get his racist listeners in a frenzy.

34. I'm watching Hardball streaming on the net and
I was pissed that Chris Matthews also tapped dance around that issue without just saying it. He said something like "you can say Rush is being blah blah (forgot exactly what term he used) or you could say he was being something else" - that something else was "racist" but he didn't have the balls to say it. Why not? Who the hell cares about Rush and I firmly believe that Rush will someday soon go way too far and incite racist conflict. I've been overseas for business for an extended period of time and don't get MSNBC here so haven't watched Hardball for at least a year, I have to say I do think Chris Matthews is pretty good in terms of pressing people and calling them on their hypocrisy, but I was disappointed in that he couldn't just say what he believes about Rush.

36. Olbermann said long time ago
Correct me if I have some parts of this story wrong:

He was sitting in a plane waiting for a takeoff and reading some bad news about what Bush was doing and no one was ever speaking out. And he was wondering why? And then it hit him that someone just needs to start (like Edward Murrow back in the day), so he went on his show the next day and the rest is history.
