1. And how many of those people pay payroll taxes?

Answer: ALL of them.

Income tax may be progressive (less so since Bush came into office), but payroll taxes, particularly FICA, are extremely regressive.

2. My take home is MINISCULE, and I not only pay "self-employment tax"

which is basically social security tax TIMES TWO, but I also pay a substantial percentage in income tax. Makes it downright hard to get by, let alone get anywhere. And I'm luckier than most - I own a business that has significant resale value, and have very little debt proportionate to income and assets. But cash flow is always a problem, and Bush has made it a much bigger problem the past 8 years.

Obama's plan will save me $500 in income taxes. WOW - I'll take it.
