5. im really tired of the Powell bashing. He has more integrity than a lot of Dems in congress E*hem
He tried to avoid invasion of iraq.

He called for a (criminal) investigation into the WMD intel lies leading to war.

How many democrats in the Senate have done the same?

Meanwhile... you don't see this same hate directed at Dem Senators who continue to merely say that intel was solid, clear, etc... back in 2002 when they supported the Bush resolution.

6. Jesus Christ!
We have to be cheerleaders for the guy??
Seriously, I'm glad for the endorsement...I recognize the political value and know who it will resonate with.
But if you expect me to regard him as some kind of hero to be speaking out now when it's politically safe as opposed to years ago when it could have made a difference then you can just fuck right off.

Why are you exaggerating what people are trying to get you and others to comprehend??

God, are some so full of themselves that they CAN'T FUCKING PLAY ON A TEAM!!!!

It's WE here, NOT JUST YOU!!

I have to wonder if some are afraid we will lose our "opposition party" status - I expect some to leave for more radical left-leaning sites than DU currently is.

19. I'm thinking a military family in VA who
always votes Repo, but are wondering WTF?

The former head of the JCS, the former Sec of State and Vietnam vet says it's patriotic to vote Obama. That's got to carry some comfort weight.

And it certainly conveys momentum.

26. The Trojan Horse

One of Cassandra's most famous predictions was that of the Greek siege behind the gift of the Trojan Horse. Related in Vergil's Aeneid ii, the Trojans exultantly accepted the Greek gift of a giant wooden horse. Only Cassandra remained quiet and subdued. "Four times struck : as oft the clashing sound/ Of arms was heard, and inward groans rebound./ Yet, mad with zeal, and blinded with our fate,/ We haul along the horse in solemn state;/ Then place the dire portent within the tow'r./ Cassandra cried, and curs'd th' unhappy hour;/ Foretold our fate; but, by the god's decree,/ All heard, and none believ'd the prophecy." (Aeneid 2.323, Dryden translation) Late that night the Greeks left the horse and began the final attack on Troy.

27. All of our cultural forms were established thousands of years ago
by a handful of incredible Greeks. On the other hand I welcome the Powell endorsement, regardless of the war crimes and all the rest of the baggage he brings along, as it hurts the McCain campaign and I despise them. So in this case, while it is fair to inspect this horse, we should of course accept the gift.

28. Obama's tenure will be one of compromise.
I don't see that he has any choice in that at all. At least we can be fairly certain he won't blow up the planet which is more than can be said for Mr. Magoo.

23. That dishonest fucker KNOWING lied us into an unnecessary war
That will never be forgotten or forgiven by me, sorry.

If Colin Powell had stood up for the TRUTH rather than bending over for his puppet string pullers over four and a half years ago, he might have made the difference THEN when it counted infinitely more.

But for thousands and thousands of dead, injured, and permanently maimed American and coalition soldiers, and for hundreds and thousands of dead, injured, permanently maimed, and homeless Iraqis, it's way too fucking little, way too fucking late.

Colin Powell hasn't even begin to balance the scale and he never will, because he CAN'T.

Obama doesn't need Powell's endorsement to win the election, so I'm sure as fuck not going to kiss Powell's weasel ass over making it. It just enrages me that Powell's worthless word, after he squandered all his integrity into helping lie the U.S. into war, is even still considered to mean anything.

24. Of course not, but I suspect the bitching is...
about all they do.

I'd draw the line at Stormfront's endorsement, but will take any respectable endosement. Powell commands respect in most, if not all, of the country, and if he helps us win, then go for it.

What the fuck is your malfunction with some pointing out the fact that Powell is a criminal?

You seem to have a problem with people expressing their opinions.

Tough shit for you.

30. Hey, I'm happy to get the morally bankrupt votes ....
... that Powell will deliver.

Their votes count the same as the votes of good Americans that did not help lead us into a tragic vanity war and then lead themselves into cushy retirement.
