Something that's not normally said- Thank you to the Secret Service for
Keeping Barack Obama safe, we are all counting on him to bring us into the future of this country. As what I myself and many others consider the last great hope to bring respect and dignity back to the White House, he is more important to us than words can describe.

So thank you, for doing a wonderful job. Thank you for watching over him and his family, thank you for watching over Joe Biden and his family as well.

I know that there are times when your brows sweat because of how up close and personal Barack likes to get with the people of our country, but please bear with him. You can see on the faces all around him reflected in his own smile- Just what a moment in history this is.

For you- Please continue to keep him safe for all of us. He truly is a treasure.

(I was prompted to write this, after seeing the pictures of his 100,000 person rally today. I was laughing but still had my heart in my throat. Something would die in us all over this country, and even in the rest of the world- if something happened to him.)

5. Yeah and PLEASE, keep up the good work
I saw a photo from the rally where he looked all alone walking the line of people. I couldn't see the SS, I hope they were nearby out of the camera angle....

6. I pray everyday for him and those around him. I was a young woman when JFK, MLK, & Bobby left us.
I can only say that it was something I will never forget and hope our country never goes through this kind of horrific tragedy ever again. May the Angel's protect him and those around him.

7. Fifth! Get thee to the Greatest page!
I second (AND fifth) these sentiments.

Thank you, Secret Service agents! Thank you just anyway. You literally put your lives on the line to protect a lot of high-level politicians, including the indefensible ones - ALL THE TIME, EVERY DAY. And we need your vigilance and quick reactions for the sake of Barack Obama's safety, too. It's just a damned shame that we live in a time and place in which there ARE crackpots with access to firearms and explosives and other weapons who can and do perpetrate evil on others. I wish you guys weren't needed, much less needed as such critically essential associates.

Please keep up the good work! It's noticed and DEEPLY appreciated.

12. They're the "reality-based" community, for sure.
The ones assigned to Obama are most likely the best of the best ... a kind of dedication we could ALL learn from.

20. I say a prayer of thanks for them every time I see Obama on TV
And when I saw a picture of the crowd in St. Louis today, I said to my husband "can you imagine being in charge of security?"

They do an incredibly difficult job--one that usually only gets noticed when it isn't done 100% perfectly--but it is NOT a thankless one. I am grateful for them every single day. I'm grateful for the protection that McCain receives, too. The political process would be unmanageable, and certainly not democratic, if the candidates weren't kept safe.

The men and women on Obama's detail must be la creme de la creme. Those crowds are bigger, and generally they're all thrilled to be there, but we all know (though we try not to think about it) that the antipathy towards Obama is potentially quite serious and determined. So his Secret Service agents have to work twice as hard because of the size of the crowds and twice as hard again because the risks to their guy are greater.

Thank you for starting this thread; it was a wonderful idea. I think it really would be nice for those brave men and women to see how much their work is appreciated. :loveya:
