BREAKING - McCain Is Using The Same Robocall Firm To Smear Obama That Smeared McCain In 2000
Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 10:25 PM by Median Democrat
John McCain's attempts to destroy his own reputation continues to break new ground. McCain apparently is using the same robocall firm to smear Obama that smeared him 2000. Yet, McCain insists that he is not George Bush.

In his efforts to attack Barack Obama, John McCain appears to have turned to the same political consulting firm that was responsible for spreading vicious smears about the Senator during the 2000 South Carolina GOP primary.

In recent days, the Huffington Post and other outlets have reported on the McCain-funded nationwide robocall campaign charging that Barack Obama "worked closely with" former 60s radical William Ayers. Another RNC/McCain campaign call states that Obama is a "celebrity" politician who was fundraising in Hollywood during the financial crisis.

On Friday, a recipient of one of those calls, Chris Shoff of Minnesota, said that he had tied the origins of the campaign to the St. Paul-based firm FLS-Connect, run by prominent GOP figure Jeff Larson.

Any tie between the McCain campaign and FLS represents an ironic twist of fate and a reflection of just how far the Arizona Republican has moved politically in the last eight years. During the 2000 election, FLS and Larson helped then-presidential candidate George W. Bush smear McCain during the now-infamous South Carolina primary. As the Washington Post reported in April 30, 2000:

4. Schmidt has taken presidential politics to a new low
One of the (many) reasons we need to win this election is to discredit these tactics.

Even Lee Atwater on his worst day wouldn't have pulled some of this shit.

8. At least Atwater was smart. Schmidt's just a dumb bully.
He failed out of the University of Delaware and never got his bachelor's.

Now he's taking out his feelings of inferiority on the entire country.

9. Exactly.
Atwater and even Rove at least understood concepts like subtlety and restraint - Willie Horton was ONE very effective ad; McCain's campaign is an endless stream of almost entirely negative ads, each more boneheaded than the last.

3. K+R!
More evidence of McCain's absolute and utter lack of decency or integrity.

5. And John McCain will reply as George W. bUsh did;
"It's just politics."

Fun and games, smearing and lying and destroying people's lives...

7. What a sorry excuse for a man. If there is anything more craven
than hiring people who called your wife a junkie and your daughter a black love child, I don't want to hear about it.
