Poll question: Has Obama Exceeded Your Expectations Since The Start Of The Primaries?
Going back 18 months ago, when the primary was in its infancy and we were all split into different camps, has your opinion of Obama improved at all along with your expectations for him as a general election candidate?

We all know that there wasn't unanimous support for him at this time last year, I'm just curious to see if he's made believers out of some of his doubters.

4. During the primaries, I was happily unattached to any candidate.
I always intended to support the Dem candidate after the primaries ended, so I didn't but all my hopes in one person. All of our candidates were great, and I would have greatly supported any of them in the GE.

Since the primaries have ended, Obama has continued to amaze and impress me - especially when he picked Biden as his running mate. Although he's not 100% where I would like him to be on all issues (but really, who could be?), I'm convinced he's going to do great things for our country once he's in the White House. And I can't wait to see him get there!

GOBAMA!

5. The Pukes are sending up an angry kook and a vacuous dolt.
We're offering two solid presidents.

Your call, voters.

7. I did not support him- I did not think he could win- He has exceeded my expectations
I am actually starting to hope and maybe even believe that this one will be enough of a landslide that they can't steal it.

I also am beginning to be hopeful that he will be able to lead as well as he campaigns. (two very different things)

8. My favorite way in which he's exceeded my expectations
is how tough he is. He has, so far, stood up really well to the mudslinging and swiftboat attempts. And he's cooler than a cucumber. That's impressive, and I hope he keeps it up.

How often is it that someone exceeds your high expectations?

Wow.

11. My first pick was Biden. Obama was tied for 3rd mainly because of experience.

I was originally for Biden, Clark, then Obama or Edwards.

I'm absolutely thrilled with how Obama's campaign has been run and how well he is doing. It goes without saying that as a Delawarean for Biden, I'm also happy that Biden was his choice - not only because he's my Senator, but for the foreign experience he brings to the ticket, and the fact that this is probably the first time in history that we're going to need to rely on both the strength of the Pres. and the strength of the VP to help fix America. They make a great team and I'm proud to support them!

I am heartsick thinking that the pubs are going to try to steal this election thru disenfranchisement, but the wheels are already turning in Ohio and other states. Even if the GOP looks at it from a greed perspective (which is about all they do), if there is no more money, there is nothing left to steal - except from eachother.

As Joshua once said in War Games, the only way to win the game is not to play. They haven't figured it out yet.

14. I supported Edwards until he dropped out
Edited on Fri Oct-17-08 09:05 AM by Juche
The day Edwards dropped out I went to Obama, but that was in January. So I didn't support Obama until late January. However yeah he has exceeded my expectations by far.

1. Able to transcend the bigotry that should hold him back
2. Built a massive grassroots organization that'll be there even after he wins and will help tons of progressives in federal, state & local elections in all 50 states.
3. Gotten a massive donor database and a true public financing situation
4. Made alot of us feel we are voting for someone, not just against someone else.
5. Inspiring millions to be a part of our own domestic nation building.
6. Keeping his cool no matter what, and he seems like he understands the issues pretty well for a guy who has only been in the senate for 4 years.

All in all, pretty amazing.

15. By far, I never thought an African American could
even win the primary and had zero chance to win the Presidency. At first I supported Edwards (that turned out to be bad judgement), then Hillary mainly because I thought she had a chance to win. The American people really surprised me, I thought they were way more prejudiced than it turns out. You have to consider where I live, I am in eastern Ohio where that youtube video with all the nitwits
calling Obama a n---- and a Muslim was made.
