While Clinton is recuperating, this is Al Gore's chance to step up,
step in, and step to in order to help John Kerry and to demonstrate how he SHOULD HAVE done his campaign four years ago.

Al Gore has grown older and wiser, and is not as innocent.

It's like Sampson in the Old Testament. Blinded and chained to a wheel, the Philistines didn't see Sampson's hair growing back until it was too late. And consequently, it was their downfall and slaughter.

Al, c'mon. As quoted in City Slickers, "LIFE IS A DO-OVER!". This is your chance to set things straight. You can do it.

1. Gore won the election four years ago
The big mistake was made by the my party the DEMOCRATIC party, who decided NOT to stand by him during the recounts.

2. I don't agree - Al Gote showed very little backbone or leadership
during the recounts (and let's not even START on Joe "Hey, let's count all of the illegal military ballots, too!" Lieberman) - there was nothing for the Democratic Party to stand behind. Democrats across the country were out fighting for him - hordes of us even went down to Florida to join the fight - but he undercut them at every turn, asking them to tone down their protests, rallies and rhetoric. Meanwhile, the Bush team pulled out all the stops.

5. he didn't want riots
But the democratic party leaders shit him down because they wanted to make deals with the republicans for commitee chairmanships. It didn't matter how many activists went to florida (and I doubt there were more than a handful) Wha the party leaders did was what mattered. The only elected democrats who went to florida that I saw were Harkin and Wellstone.
They, the CBC and a handful of congress people from florida were the sum total of the Party support for Gore.

13. Any facts to back that up?
Regardless, the Democratic Party and its leadership are not comprised only of the Members of Congress.

4. I don't think so....
Let Clinton heal. Hell he can even do a little video from his home to be shown at one of Kerry's important campaign stops.

Think of it. The Big Dog propped up in his bed at home in his jammies. Sweet

Al Gore will only divide us more at this point. This is end game we need The Man.

11. Hmmm, maybe "in his jammies" isn't the smartest marketing move
It'd work better if he can manage to put a tie on, I think. Clinton and bedclothes is not the image we need to put out to swingers.

I mean "swing voters."

6. I agree. Al Gore is the type of fighter we need right now...
ANd he would get the media to change the subject. And some folks need to be reminded that Gore beat Bush the last time around...and he could have done it again....especially since Bush has shown he is all hat and no cattle. And to think that he would only further "divide" us?? I hope Kerry asks him to take up the slack. Al Gore can make the Repubs pull their hair out like no other Democrat...

10. That would be a brilliant combination: a Clinton Administration Reunion
to take Kerry home to the White House.

Get Al Gore, Hilliary, Leon Panetta, Robert Reich, Tipper Gore, James Carville, Paul Begalla together and remind the country of what we used to have and what we can reclaim. And of course a video hook-up from Columbia with Bill Clinton doing a Reagan "Win One for the Big Dog". I know this would win and would be unstoppable, even for the dirty tricks of Karl Rove.

15. Gore is the type of fighter we could have used for the past four years
But he remained largely silent until recently.

Sorry, but I don't think he'd be much help.

I've seen his speeches to MoveOn, and he presents an articulate case against this administration. I think he's one of the most effective surrogates Kerry can have, because he gives no quarter to these fuckups and criminals. I say, let Gore loose on them. He can attack mercilessly (and, as a Vietnam vet, can answer the Smear Boat Liars pretty effectively).

Also it was suggested in some forum I seen today that ol Bill isn't going to let this get to him.he can still tape ads from home and pretape campaign bit clips and let them play on the trail with Kerry...wouldn't that be great."Todays message from Our President Bill Clinton"

12. There are areas that Clinton can set on fire and Gore would do squat
It was mentioned by pundits last night: Clinton was to be used because he can really rally them in Michigan, Ohio, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, southern Florida, and a few others. Apparently that was part of the "closing" but now we won't be able to use him. Gore isn't going to set those places on fire like Clinton---hell, who is going to set anything on fire like Clinton..

16. I disagree...
I think in this environment, Gore may actually do better than the Big Dawg. Clinton is great at putting the issues in clearly black and white terms...but Gore is great at putting passion into his arguments and that is why he came from so far behind in 2000 to beat George W Bush in the popular election...

17. It's time for John Kerry to help John Kerry.............
surrogates are nice, but we need Kerry to step up and confidently talk about Bush's shortcomings and what he will do to improve upon Bush's mistakes.
