OMG! My 88 year old mother is voting for Obama!
She was going to vote for McCain but now she's changed her mind. She's become a fan of Saturday Night Live and after seeing the Tina Fey Sarah Palin parodies, she absolutely detests Palin. My sister was floored when Mom told her. And Dad, who was also going to vote for McCain, hates the idea of a woman in charge so he will vote for Obama! :wow:

Now you have to realize - these people voted for George Wallace, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush AND George W. Bush. And now they will vote for the first African-American President. I am so proud of them - though you'd think a man with a strong, independent minded wife and four intelligent, liberated daughters would be more for women's rights than he seems to be. :eyes:

1. Good thing we followed the whiny handwringers' advice, and ignored Palin!
Oh wait - we did the EXACT OPPOSITE.

4. I'm all down with pointing out who's advice has been good, and who's has been bad...
It's useful when deciding who to listen to in the future.

Especially when the people who were wrong won't admit it.

8. They voted for Wallace twice - I was so embarrassed
But they are redeeming themselves this year and making up for all their past votes.

You can imagine - we do NOT discuss politics or religion at family gatherings. If we did, the family would have split up long ago. Out of their four daughters, one turned out conservative. She passed away so now Mom & Dad are stuck with all their liberal spawn. :hippie:

But they are voting for him!

10. At least he is a sane enough Republican to not consider Palin a good choice!
There are a few Repubs who are not total nutjobs of A-holes. I just wish they were more than a few so they could have kept the GOP from going as extreme as they have gotten.

But then we probably would not have an excellent candidate like Obama, just another Democratic hack. I mean, I like Gore & Kerry OK but they are no Barack Obama!

13. Sheesh...
People really don't vote on the issues, do they? It's almost comical how the average voter goes through their decision for an election in this country. "Don't want a woman, so I'll vote for the other party. Don't want an old guy, so I'll vote for the other party. Don't want a black person, so I'll vote for the other party." It's absolutely comical, especially when you read that it's coming from people who are "lifelong" Repubs or Dems.

16. So is my 86-year old mom, and my 86-year old MIL - God bless
both of them!
I just ordered a "Czech Americans for Obama" button for my MIL - she's gonna go nuts!
She loves Obama, HATES McKlan/Failin' - and she's an anti-abortion, devout Catholic. SHE understands that the election is more than one issue, and that making abortion illegal won't stop it any more than prohibition stopped the manufacture and distribution of alcohol.
Smart lady, my MIL...

18. I wish your Dad wasn't against all female leaders. Palin is a sad excuse for a candidate.
But my best bosses have been women.

20. Yes, I know - and all of his daughters have had to deal with his attitudes over the years
We love him but it gets frustrating that even though he is proud of us he will never admit that any of us could be good at being leaders. I ran my own business for 25 years, but never got a pat on the back for doing a good job of it. Giving compliments is just not what he does.

Oh well, we've learn to live with it and we just want to appreciate what he has done for us all his life. He's the old fashioned type guy that works himself practically into the grave for his family. He finally made good and still would not enjoy his retirement. Instead, he set his sights on setting up education funds for his grandkids. His age is catching up with him - he's buried one daughter and a well loved son in law and that has taken a lot out of him.
