Faux News says...
Ethics Inquiry: Palin was lawful and ethical in firing the state commissioner.

No mention of her power abuse in the caption.

1. The FNC web site states the finding was that she "abused her power".

2. I am talking about the TV
They had a report on this and their caption is what I posted.

They did also mention that others would have done the same if they were in her shoes. After all she was trying to protect her family!

5. I heard an 'expert' on one of the shows yesterday predict that this was the line
we would hear over and over from the R's regarding this report. Practically the only line in the report that wasn't damning, so it's not surprising. Nor is it surprising that they're trying to justify her actions (we'd probably be doing the same thing, to be honest.)

10. Others would have done the same?
Sure. Other unethical, selfish people would.

4. The firing may have been lawful, but the report finds it unethical.
I suppose that's why we call it Faux News. They just make shit up.

7. I'm not saying she didn't break the law.
The report says the firing itself was within the legal scope of her power and that it was the ethics law she violated.

8. I understand....
but the media keeps saying no law was violated...however the report says:

Finding Number One

For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.

9. There are two main things in the report, and Faux News is only reporting one of them.

Palin's firing of Walt Moneghan, while questionable, is legal under Alaska's State Constitution. The Governor can fire any state employee under her command as she sees fit, for any reason. Even something as dubious as walking around with gum under his shoe.

However, it also stated that the pressure that Governor Palin and her husband, using the power of her office, exerted on underlings like Moneghan to try to get Wooten fired, was a direct abuse of power of the Governor's office and a definite set of ethics violations.

In addition, it found that Palin's statement that Wooten was a direct threat to her family and herself wasn't matched by the fact that Palin DECREASED her security detail. Why would Palin decrease her security detail if she was so worred about what Wooten would do?

13. As befitting a dictator, only a governor can fire anyone for
walking around with gum under his shoe. Palin is proving to be a great dictator.

12. Did Faux mention the part about Todd Palin wanting only...
his bro-in-law to get in trouble for illegally shooting a moose? Even though Sarah's father dressed it, knowing it was taken illegally, and by law should have also been held liable?

No? I didn't think so.
