Outrageous Norm Coleman stunt (involving Paul Wellstone)
John Aravosis (DC) · 10/11/2008 12:30:00 PM ET · Link

Watch this. I don't want to spoil the surprise. But, in a nutshell, Republican Senator Norm Coleman, who is about to lose his seat in Minnesota to Al Franken, just ran ad against Al Franken. The dishonesty, and stupidity, of it makes McCain look like a Boy Scout. Watch this, seriously, its only 60 seconds.

So, first watch the snippet of the Norm Coleman ad portraying Al Franken as a dangerously angry man.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o466pDTbOA

Then watch Al Franken's video which shows you where Franken got the "angry" snippet from. You'll die.

4. Norm Coleman needs to lose his seat and never again get power!
He is an evil person - imagine abusing Wellstone's memory and not caring.

23. He's been abusing Wellstone's Senate seat all these years.
Coleman is beneath contempt.

5. Owned.
It's so gratifying seeing Franken this close to victory. I remember reading the end of his book "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them" and wondering if we really could beat the Republicans by being smarter, more honest and more funny than them. And thanks to Obama, Franken and so many others, we are nearly there, and the Repukes have fallen on their last resort, namecalling, just as Franken said they would.

6. Frankin's ads have been fantastic....
I loved the one where he brought out his fifth grade teacher to endorse him. So funny.

Which is pretty impressive.

8. Interesting. The Franken ad was released on Thursday, and on Friday . . .
. . . Norm Coleman announced (in a closed-room meeting with partisan press) that he was pulling all of his negative campaign ads.

17. It's too late for Coleman to pull the "go nice" act. These NASTY ads have been running here
non-stop for at least 6 weeks.

9. Minnesota is a TOSS-UP race.
Norm Coleman is not "about to lose his seat"-John Aravosis is being complacent or cocky. Coleman may lose his seat, but he has been leading for most of the campaign and really it shouldn't even be close.
We need to all get behind Al Franken and help him take that seat back for Democrats, for Paul Wellstone, and for a Senate that will support President Obama.

I've donated to every Democrat in a close Senate race. We all can do something for a 60 seat Senate majority. We all should do something -because without it we are surely going to be screwed. If there are enough Republicans left in the Senate to obstruct President Obama THAT'S WHAT THEY WILL DO. It will anger the people around the country? That doesn't matter to them. They are clinging to their insane base at this point and will act like cornered rats. Doesn't everyone remember how Bob Dole led Senate Republicans to obstruct President Clinton in his first term? "He's not MY President!" Dole said as he justified blocking the new administration's appointments and completely shut down Clinton's agenda. A record number of filibusters. Hundreds of federal judicial appointments eventually placed on hold. They will do the same and worse to Obama, and this country which is practically a basket case at this point, cannot possibly afford the "luxury" of a repeat performance. Now is the time to do something about it.

20. Your post is a good lesson on history, and a good
wake-up call to all Americans. We certainly do not need history to repeat itself. Not now, there is too much at stake.

that Coleman would use the footage or that he didn't have the sense to know he'd be caught. God, they think the electorate is so stupid!

24. This probably ended Coleman's campaign -- it is getting big treatment
in Minn and Coleman had to go on TV saying that he was stopping all negative campaigning.

But I didn't know this backstory. I hope November 4 is the last we ever hear from that weasel-face bastard.
