I'm afraid and Angry! Palin and McCain words are an echo from the 1930's in Germany....
Edited on Sat Oct-11-08 06:21 AM by Gnister
When Palin and McCain are inspiring rage, anger and hate among their supporters I get afraid since it's an echo of history and the 1930's in Germany. If we let them continue the United States of America will end up divided....

I'm getting afraid and angry....everyone has to stand up NOW and help to stop their campaign of hate, fear and rage!

Their actions stands against everything our founding fathers believed in!

3. Yes, I am outraged too!
McCain has finally started to temper outbursts of hatred at his rallies. He apparently has seen the late. A little to late though, the damage has been done.

Who in their right mind would want a leader that instills hatred. It's mind boggling!

6. RE: Who would support hatred?
Edited on Sat Oct-11-08 06:22 AM by cjsmom44
You ask who in their right mind would want a leader who instills hatred? Those people would those who harbor hatred in their own souls, well disguised with a veil of self righteous religiosity. Now that is who is REALLY dangerous...McCain/Palin are truly a frightening duo...

7. Fast forward to 1945
The movie "Downfall" explains it all so very well. Once the Nazis were facing defeat and they couldn't live in the world of their choosing, they committed suicide. The general blowing up his whole family with 2 hand grenades, the officer sitting in the air raid shelter looking at his pistol, others chomping down on cyanide capsules, they did the world a favor by clearing themselves out of it.

They have ruined the United States: bankrupted the Treasury, stretched the military to tatters, left a hole in the ground where the World Trade center was, left a wasteland where the Mississippi flows into the Gulf of Mexico. It's not where Germany was in 1945, but it's still far worse off than when they were not in control. To point out their failures to them is futile. They will claim they could have won in Vietnam, in Iraq, that the free markets were just about to correct themselves. Correctly observing cause and effect is lost on them. They will never connect their lack of success with the stupidity of their philosophy, they will believe in their doctrine to the very end. To which I would say "well, go ahead, end it all now, and the rest of us will just have to get by somehow without you".

Let their hate, rage and anger turn back upon themselves and the world will be a better place.

8. What do you mean "will end up divided?"
We're already divided. It's just not in half as the Corporate Media would have us presume. The Fascist Third simply have very big, well funded mouths.

Fuck being afraid of these idiots, they are classic bullies. Stand them down and they turn tail. Anger is good, you should be angry but never fear them, they don't deserve that respect.

12. I completely agree with you on that!!
We always have to remember that they are the minority here. Granted, they do have "very big, well funded mouths" as you said. But I am not afraid of them. I am ready to fight for what is right. We all need to keep fighting their ignorant racist behavior.

13. I agree. Whenever someone yelled, "Go to Russia!" at me the other day, I yelled back, "Why do you
hate the First Amendment? Why do you hate the United States Constitution? WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA?!" They shut up.

And when old guys yelled, "Get a job!", I yelled back, "I'm RETIRED, Pops! Why don't YOU get a job?!"

And their ignorant "USA! USA!" chant died pretty quickly when OUR side started it, too!

14. I feel the exact opposite, although
Edited on Sat Oct-11-08 06:53 AM by tomg
I understand your point. That McCain and Palin are in free fall and the more hatred they generate the deeper they drop; that they are being called out, not only by us by the reasonable members of the opposition ( whether out of conviction or expediency); that Obama and Biden are so clearly above that kind of politics and it is one of the many reasons they are leading - all suggest that we are going in the opposite direction. I say this as someone who six months ago was utterly convinced that Bush would declare martial law ( well, he still might, but that is a different fear ). The Palin campaign could be the ( temporary - as in a few generations) defeat of the politics of hatred, scapegoating and division.

You are right. Their actions do stand against everything this country has ( ideally) moved toward. And they are getting hammered not only on their policies (or lack thereof) but on these issues. I recently recieved an e-mail from one of my cousins who has always been a moderate Republican ( Bush 2000 but very reluctantly Kerry 2004). I know he ( and a few other family members who also went Kerry) were honestly hoping that McCain would be a return to a moderate Republican party. He just told me he is voting Obama.

17. I'm also scared
As a republican and conservative I am also frightened. If Palin would become president she would tarnish the conservative image for eternity. She's a religious nutcrack and an embarrassment for my party.

19. Unlikely the US will be divided. However...what they are inciting is
reminiscint of Germany's Nazi era. I'm surprised still how lightly the media is making of this. I'm sure when shit goes down though, if it goes down and God forbid it does, then the media will take it as seriously as they should.

I think more Republicans and Democrats should be coming out and publicly reprimanding McCain for his actions because they are aborrent. On top of the economy we have a man and woman candidates for the White House creating this boiling caldroun of hate. It's bound to topple over and they have yet to take full responsibility and turn the page on it.

22. What makes it even more reprehensible is the fact that
they are stirring this hatred and division in the midst of a great economic crisis.

It has all the necessary ingredients that people need to start looking for a scape-goat.

27. you are right to identify these tactics as ones we must be
vigilant against -- loudly and clearly, we must denounce them over and over and over again.

But have no fear.

Fear feeds the machine.

They want us to be afraid.

There is nothing to fear. The future is here for us to see and embrace.

They can't take anything from us that matters.

The world is on our side, too, if that helps. (I mean, the world shares the vision we share with Obama for how we would like America to conduct herself and participate in discussions with other nations).

We are not alone. They are only destroying themselves by being forced to reveal themselves as the reptile, low level functioning, out dated racists and sexists and bigots they are.

Hate can dominate briefly but it can not win the hearts and minds of the people. History shows this to be true. One thing that never changes is human nature.

I, too, am prepared to give up everything for this cause. I am not afraid. I know it is just and right and the time is now.

I have already lost all of my savings. I am not scared. They can't take away my honor, my vision, my love for this country. They got nothin'. :-)
