Why is it McCain's admitted collaboration never comes up?
If McCain wants to inflate the non-relationship between Obama and Ayers, then why does this completely factual incident (admitted by McCain himself) of McCain's collaboration with a communist enemy never come up?

http://www.armystudyguide.com/content/army_board_study_guide_topics/code_of_conduct/the-code-of-conduct.shtml

The US Military Code Of Conduct:

"III

If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and to aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

V

When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause."

McCain's own words:

http://www.usnews.com/articles/news/2008/01/28/john-mccain-prisoner-of-war-a-first-person-account.html?PageNr=8

"They wanted a statement saying that I was sorry for the crimes that I had committed against North Vietnamese people and that I was grateful for the treatment that I had received from them. This was the paradox—so many guys were so mistreated to get them to say they were grateful. But this is the Communist way.

I held out for four days. Finally, I reached the lowest point of my 5½ years in North Vietnam. I was at the point of suicide, because I saw that I was reaching the end of my rope.

I said, O.K., I'll write for them.

They took me up into one of the interrogation rooms, and for the next 12 hours we wrote and rewrote. The North Vietnamese interrogator, who was pretty stupid, wrote the final confession, and I signed it."

Seems pretty clear to me that McCain violated the US Military Code Of Conduct and collaborated with an enemy of the United States. I'm not saying that under those circumstances I might not have done the same thing, or that anyone else wouldn't, but anyone who did would be disqualified to be the President of this great nation. IMHO.

1. This is a bad road to go down.
You want to rally their base? IMHO this is a great way to do it.

Pass.

2. The base
Their base is already rallied. Nothing can change that now.

I'm merely suggesting an airing of facts, no conclusions, no opinions, just the facts as they stand.

3. I'm not so sure the base would be too tolerant of that
Shit they aren't tolerant of anything else.

He let down his fellow POW's.

4. Re: his fellow POW's.
Look, I'm not faulting that man for doing it. Hell, I'd say almost anyone would.

But then...they wouldn't dare try to set themselves up to lead the country they betrayed. Nor would they dare question another person's patriotism.
