BREAKING! NY TIMES: Palin & aides made dozens of call to remove trooper

The NY Times is reporting tonight that Walt Monegan received over 3 dozen calls from the Palins and aides calling for the removal of Mike Wooten, Palin's ex-brother in-law.

The bombshell which is preceding tomorrow's release of the official report into Troopergate offers more details into the sordid affair with recollections of specific events that finger Sarah Palin's involvement in pressuring her public safety commissioner to fire her ex-brother in law.

Ms. Palin has denied that anyone told Mr. Monegan to dismiss Mr. Wooten, or that the commissioner’s ouster had anything to do with the trooper. But an examination of the case, based on interviews with Mr. Monegan and several top aides, indicates that, to a far greater degree than was previously known, the governor, her husband and her administration pressed the commissioner and his staff to get Mr. Wooten off the force, though without directly ordering it.

The story makes it clear that there was direct contact from Gov. Palin herself regarding this case.

In all, the commissioner and his aides were contacted about Mr. Wooten three dozen times over 19 months by the governor, her husband and seven administration officials, interviews and documents show.

"To all of us, it was a campaign to get rid of him as a trooper and, at the very least, to smear the guy and give him a desk job somewhere," said Kim Peterson, Mr. Monegan’s special assistant, who like several other aides spoke publicly about the matter for the first time.

Needless to say, this is a huge story, folks. We need to jump on this story fast and strong as an antidote to the Palin demagoguery that has crossed the lines of racism and hate mongering.

8. There's something exquisite about a small-town boss trying to cope with the big time
And discovering that Boss Hogg is not exactly the ideal role model for a modern politician.

There's no warning or other window that opens. If you stay about 45 seconds, a strange sound file about science starts.

Scared the shit out of me.

17. So much for "todd taking the fall"..
This is beautiful! Alaskan justice at work and there's nothing the Governor can do to stop the wheels.

This quote with the news has similiar advice to something I just read on another site..

"Meanwhile, it is time to start using the term “demagogue” to describe McPalin, and compare their rallies to Nazi rallies, for that is what they are doing, whipping up people to hatred and possibly violence. This is the McCain version of Country First."

19. Let's see how many people try to make McCain's
BS moves the bigger story.

It's a story of unintended consequences. It's also a story of power politics and media manipulation that's very un-McCain-like -- if you believe his national media hagiography.

But both of Cindy McCain's staged, teary drug-addiction confessions have been vintage John McCain. His MO is this: Get the story out -- even if it's a negative story. Get it out first, with the spin you want, with the details you want and without the details you don't want.

McCain did it with the Keating Five, and with the story of the failure of his first marriage (Cindy is his second wife). So what you recall after the humble, honest interview, is not that McCain did favors for savings and loan failure Charlie Keating, or that he cheated on his wife, but instead what an upfront, righteous guy he is.

Candor is the McCain trademark, but what the journalists who slobber over the senator fail to realize is that the candor is premeditated and polished. John McCain shoots from the hip -- but only after carefully rehearsing the battle plan, to be sure he won't get shot himself.

22. McCain campaign obvious desperation.
McCain-Palin Investigation Exonerates Palin:

Sarah Palin has been exonerated in the Trooper-Gate scandal by an unexpected source: Her own campaign. In advance of tomorrow's release of the Alaska legislature's investigative report, the McCain-Palin campaign has released its own report detailing her ex-brother-law's many alleged offenses, but finding that their feud had nothing to do with her firing of the state police commissioner.

Major fail.
