What the hell is up with Howard Fineman?
Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 01:40 PM by simskl
on edit: fix typos, so pissed I can't type.

Has he always shilled for the Palin/McCain ticket or is he trying to be contrarian now? Finally the media seems to be calling all the bullshit that is the McLame campaign bullshit. Now Fineman is down on all fours with his head so far up McSames ass he can probably tell you what the old prick ate for lunch.

Read this POS they call an analysis:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27067414/

I noticed the same kind of fawning puke a couple of days ago. This isn't even remotely close to what I'd call journalism, maybe Newsweek disagrees.
:freak:  :banghead: :puke:

1. Back in the day of Media Whores Online
Howard the duck was actually voted whore of the year several times running.

What we see on Olbermann is totally different from what he says on other MSNBC shows.

He really hasn't changed.

4. I disagree with your read on Fineman he has been constantly critical of McCain for some time

Saying that it is "do or die" is accurate and a rather negative prognosis for McCain's campaign - not fauning.

Can McCain turn it around? Its a rhetorical question - we know the answer.

This is an invitation to a wake - hardly supportive.

5. Howard Fineman in 2000
======================
On May 15, Howard Fineman reviewed Bush and Gore’s speeches—and there was little doubt where the Newswseek sage stood. “Al Gore is saying that, one more time, the Democrats can use Social Security as a scare issue,” he said.

(Though Fineman presented this as his own view, it was also a Bush campaign spin-point.)

Bush, by contrast, was being “presidential”—a point the scribe made three separate times just in his opening comment. (This was also a Bush campaign spin-point.) Indeed, Bush’s clothing was even presidential. “You see Al Gore in the, in the silk shirts,” Fineman said. “You see George W. Bush dressed up like a president.” Incredibly, even at the start of this “great debate,” Fineman offered a mindless comment about the hopefuls’ wardrobes. (Bush had worn a suit-and-tie for his May 15 speech. Gore wore a sport coat and a dark shirt.)

7. Other than the fact that it's woefully tied to conventional wisdom, what's wrong with the piece?

10. This is the bit that got to me
After reading it again, it isn't as bad as I first thought but he came up with this bit that still sticks in my craw to use a Palinism:

I think I know the reason why this is so. There is something about what McCain represents — a soldier willing to die for his country.

Obama is another reason why McCain cannot be counted out, no matter what the tracking polls and Electoral College summaries are saying. There remains something about the senator from Illinois — the big-city, Ivy League, I-know-what’s-good-for-you smoothie — that makes many swing voters reluctant to accept him, even if you edit race out of the equation, which of course, you cannot.

The whole, McCain is a soldier willing to die for his country while Obama is the elite ivy-league guy with a bit of oops can I mention that he's black shit.

12. Yeah, that is a bit annoying. I totally agree...
but at the same time, the overall message of the article seems to be "McCain will try to smear Obama tonight. It probably won't work, and it's stupid."

8. My take: A favor to either Brokaw or NBC...
To encourage people to watch the debate. "Anything can happen...stay tuned!".

Or, on a day where most people are starting to publicly doubt McCain's chances, Fineman wants to get himself some attention by presenting a different perspective.

But there is truth to this. McCain should not be counted out. The man has shown time and time again that he is willing to whatever it takes to win.

11. I posted last night that Fineman spoke at a conference in Phoenix yesterday morning.
My husband was attending that conference (a business event), and he told me that Fineman's bias was clear and overt.
