Madeline Albright Responds To Palin Misquoting Her! It's From A STARBUCKS Cup!!!
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 03:13 PM by BlooInBloo
One word: PWNED.

My god she's sofa king stupid.

http://www.americablog.com/2008/10/palin-misquotes-her-starbucks-cup.html

"Now we know why Sarah Palin doesn't read newspapers. She learns stuff from her Starbucks cup:

Palin regaled the cheering crowd with a story about how she was reading her Starbucks mocha cup yesterday, which featured a quotation from former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

“Now she said it, I didn’t,” Palin said of Albright. “She said, ‘There’s a place in Hell reserved for women who don’t support other women.’”

The crowd roared its approval, but according to several sources, Albright actually said, “there’s a place in Hell reserved for women who don’t help other women.”

If Sarah is going to make a big deal about quoting her Starbucks cup, she should at least get the quote right. In fact, as CBS notes, she got the quote wrong.

Madeline Albright wasn't amused. She wants Palin to know just how wrong she got it:

"Though I am flattered that Governor Palin has chosen to cite me as a source of wisdom, what I said had nothing to do with politics. This is yet another example of McCain and Palin distorting the truth, and all the more reason to remember that this campaign is not about gender, it is about which candidate has an agenda that will improve the lives of all Americans, including women. The truth is, if you care about the status of women in our society and in our troubled economy, the best choice by far is Obama-Biden."

121. Palin is a repulsive hypocrite and liar.
The statement Albright admits to have made is basically in biblical form. Love (Help) thy fellow man.
(In a Judeo Christian Society) There is nothing seriously objectionable about it.

The one-word change in the quote makes a critical and overwhelming change in meaning, morphing it from
Christian precept to a bigoted (sexist) and repulsive remark.

The change was deliberate, not inadvertant, because it suits her political agenda and attributing it to
Albright commits a slander against Albright. We know Palin intended this because she drew special attention to
the fact that Abright had said it, not her.

Albright didn't say it. Palin is a liar and not a Christian, she is user, a lying hypocrite.
(a Rove scumsucker probably wrote the slanderous misquote)

OBAMA CAN'T TAKE OFF THE GLOVES FOLKS. WE MUST.
LETS BURY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE SO DEEP IN THE TRASHCAN OF HISTORY
THAT EVEN REPUKLIENS WILL FORGET SHE EVER EXISTED!

30 DAYS.
GO!!

"owned" is a a term used in some prisons by inmates in order to claim dominance over others to do favours for them as sexual servants. So when you say you "own" someone, you're basically admitting to raping them and making them a personal sex slave. But of course, it's just an expression. ;)

80. Owned
Originated as a term used by hackers to describe gaining possession of a system, having hacked a box and got root they basically control it as much as if it was theirs, thus it could be considered owned by them. From this it was encorporated into the cultures vernacular including the limited(and awkward to type) vocabulary of so called l33t speak(0wn3d) Would-be hackers would come to use the phrase when taking someone out with a ping flood or other DoS attack, and although no access to the victim's system (typically another newbie hanging around on the same irc channel speaking in numbers) was gained yet they were still said to be owned. From there is came to simply mean bettering (or fucking over) someone and was even used to describe non-computer based events as described in the many other definitions. Though now its most common in CS games when someone kills you...

) To defeat in a spectacular way or fashion
2) To be of extremely high quality
1) You just got owned!
2) That movie owned!

Again, saying that you "own" someone goes way back in prison lingo long before computer servers even existed. I've seen the term used in a book from the 70's.

92. more sites and definitions.
to defeat someone severely in a verbal argument or in a competition. To "put someone in their place." Used frequently in online gaming. When used to describe a verbal argument, the term is generally used to describe a situation in which one person attempts to deal a closing blow in the argument, but is shot down by evidence that completely destroys the foundation of that person's argument. Possibly originates from computer "cracker" slang: "own root," which means that one "owns" the system administrator account, typically by possessing its password. Also 0wn, 0wned, pwn, pwned, etc.

http://onlineslangdictionary.com/definition+of/own

Owned is a slang word,<1><2> that originated among 1990s hackers, where it referred to "rooting" or gaining administrative control over someone else's computer.<3><4>

The term's original usage was close to that of the traditional meaning of the word "own" - for instance, "I owned the network at MIT" indicated that the speaker had cracked the servers and had the same root-level privileges that the legitimate owner of the servers had. "Owned", a later variant, became more common in the late 1990s, as did the more abstract usage referring to any compromised security mechanism. By 1997, "owned" was regularly used in website defacements,<5><6> and it subsequently spread to gaming circles, where it was used to refer to defeat in a game. For example, if someone makes a particularly good kill shot or wins a fight in a multiplayer video game, they might yell out "owned" to the loser(s), as a manifestation of victory, a taunt, or provocation.

Owned has now spread beyond computer and gaming contexts and become part of standard slang, where it typically entails severe defeat or humiliation, usually in an amusing way or through the dominance of an opposing party.<7> Other variations of the word owned include own3d, 0wn3d and pooned,<7> terms which incorporate elements of leetspeak.

At some point, the variant term "pwned" appeared in the same subculture; this alteration originated from typos that occurred when hasty gamers tried typing too fast on the keyboard, thus missing the "o" and typing "p" instead. Pwn has become a term in its own right but is sometimes still verbally pronounced in recognition of its origin.

It seems a popular pastime is to write "owned", "pwned", "pwn3d", or even "pwnt", etc, on pictures depicting humiliation or defeat. There have been several websites dedicated to this such as Owned.com. This site also contains videos of similar situations (many of which can also be found on YouTube). Owned and pwned are mostly used by gamers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owned

Am not saying you are wrong but searched and could not find any reference to the prison slang word/term owned.

47. Starbucks Cup?? Who knew Sarah Palin was a LATTE LIBERAL?
Seriously.. only Obama supporters drink Starbucks - someone better tell Sarah that.

Sarah said Quote:
"I was drinkin' my warm hot cup of Joe this mornin' when I looked down and saw Maddie talkin' right at me. She said "Sarah, get all those good, wonderful women behind ya, also make sure they vote for ya, 'cause it'd be a shame if those women didn't support ya also." End Quote

52. BREAKING: Sarah Palin's fortune cookie "Luck is coming your way."
Granted, she had to open ALL the fortune cookies from the 20-person carryout order for her campaign entourage to find one that could be spun positive. The cookie in question had been originally given to Lydia McKenzie, a young volunteer who has applied for Regent University's spring term.

The cookie Palin had first been given read "Pride cometh before a fall."

69. Down the list of comments to the Americas Blog I found this gem
http://eclectablog.blogspot.com/2008/10/mccain-who-gimme-palin.html

McCain Who? Gimme PALIN!
You would have thought that after last week's sorry debate performance that Sarah Palin's star would have completely faded from the sky. However, you would have been wrong. Like Rich Lowry and so many other conservative pundits, there is a certain segment of the electorate that is ... well ... let's face it:

They're hot for Sarah.

They don't care if she's not any smarter than the average voter. They don't care that she's got an ethics scandal brewing in her background. They don't care about the long, long list of lies that she has told. They just think she's hot and that's all that matters. Up until he picked Sarah Palin, John McCain's campaign was languishing. He inspires very little passion or enthusiasm among Republicans and, while many Democrats have "kinda liked him" in the past, they certainly aren't going to vote for him over someone like Barack Obama. But Sarah. Oh, Sarah. She was just the shot in the arm that his campaign needed. Except now she has eclipsed him. He's now seen as the old, creepy guy who is flailing around in an erratic fashion in the middle of a crisis while his opponent remains calm and reasoned and thoughtful. Sarah is now the star power on their ticket. I knew all this and it's been on my mind for over a week now. But it wasn't until I saw that yard sign yesterday, that it really came slamming home for me.

And I wonder if they will look at the web site for the VP Granny www.votefortheGILF.com which directs you to the JohnMcSame web site with the GILF herself introducing on video!

86. Startling Narcissism
Edited on Sun Oct-05-08 10:28 PM by krkaufman
Okay, now I'm wondering in which of two ways does Palin appear worse...
  1. Twisting Albright's statement regarding oppressed and exploited women into a self-serving quip in support of her own political career; or

  2. Interpreting her "providential" moment, using her words, that the message being communicated was that more women should support HER, as opposed to, perhaps, a rebuke, that maybe that she should do a better job of helping out women, from her position of power, by, say, not charging for rape kits.

Startling narcissism.

p.s. And then there's the hilarious side... the small town hockey mom who's just like the average person, paying $5 for a latte. And she doesn't read newspapers... but reads Starbucks cups? Are we going to have a foreign policy based on fortune cookies and matchbooks when she takes over for McCain?

Enjoy your special place in hell.

106. She should be reminded of her other quote...
The quote about the deaths of 500,000 Iraqi children being worth it. I get ill by the thought of anyone giving Madelina Albright any credibility with regard to that quote. She said, she meant it. She only retracted it after people objected to it and wondered about the agenda in Iraq. Which was still George HW Bush's agenda.

Sorry but there's a place reserved in Hell for women who think the deaths of innocent children are worth it. Particularly when they have been sacrificed not for freedom but for oil.

Millions of lives for billions of barrels. The policy of the Bushes and the Clintons. Defended by their secretaries of state. Who defend the indefensible.

Of all the people Barack Obama should distance himself from, Madeline Albright is at the top of the list.
