McCain going for a tie, then looking to pick one EV off in Maine.
I think that's the strategy that there shooting for.

As the campaign pulls resources from Michigan, it is ramping up its efforts in Maine, where Republican Senator Susan Collins is beating national trends in her re-election bid, holding a healthy double-digit lead, along with with a strong organization in the state.

I'd imagine they'll hope the can get some bang for their buck in Maine and have some spill over into New Hampshire.

If this is their strategy...then they're really desperate.

1. That's only if Obama doesn't get either FL or OH.
Obama getting the Kerry states (minus NH) and adding CO, NM, and Iowa gives Obama an electoral vote tie. He's leading several of the battleground states right now and he's also leading in VA and N.C.

Their stupidity with this strategery is astoundingly high. I'm thinking McCain is out of money and he can't afford to throw anymore into the battlegrounds. This is his last resort.

2. well, if Obama wins all of the Kerry states plus IA, NM and CO (not to mention VA)
then that 1 Maine EV won't count for much.

3. Talk about a desperate strategy
Counting on the 269-269 scenario and hoping to get one more vote? Crazy.

4. Don't sweat it
I am the county chair for Waldo County, in the 2nd District in Maine.

McCain is NOT going to carry this district. Period.

As for spillover into NH, that should not be a factor. A good part of NH is within the Portland media market, but Portland is in the 1st District, which Obama will carry by 15 points. The 2nd is mostly the Bangor media market, which does not cross over much into NH.
