Biden Should Not Pull ANY Punches.
He should open up by saying he was brought into the campaign because he's tough. And if he did anything but be himself in this debate, it would not only do a disservice to Palin but to himself. He's going to attack her positions just like he would any other opposing candidate. That is the only way to do it.

None of this, let Palin talk herself into a hole. People are expecting the Katie Couric interview redux. What will surprise everyone is if Biden tears her apart so bad she quits. He needs to show she's just not ready. He needs to put in her in the position where she needs to respond to accusations the McCain campaign has no way to prep her for.

This is how it is done. This is how I think Biden will do it. Treat her as an equal. And take her down like only Biden the Fighter can.

1. I just hope he's not overly nice or deferent to her.
Also hope he doesn't mention her looks/attractiveness.

3. He's already said he won't attack her -- doesn't want to ruin his "brand."

Sigh.

4. I'm only terrified he mentions how beautiful she is - I don't want to hear him say that...
please JOE, you get an A+ from me if you don't mention her looks, or call her a lady - just say, when asked if you think she's qualified, that "gov. palin seems like a nice person that loves her family greatly, but I just differ greatly on her the issues, that's up to the experts to determine if she's qualified" - is that a good comment for him?

Really, his expertise on the issues is all I care about, she can babble on all she wants, or with the ear plant, but I just don't want him to comment how pretty she looks or some unintentionally "I take offense to comments on looks, Senator Biden", comment -------

Then again - he can always follow that up with, "well I'm trying to be nice because that's all you've got Governor!"

8. That WON'T happen. Keep in mind that he has been debating women
for 35 years and I've yet to hear a single story about him patronizing any of them.

5. Biden has one chance and he should kick ass, hold back nothing...make it obvious
Edited on Wed Oct-01-08 02:44 AM by GreenTea
what an unqualified, uninformed, bubbleheaded nutcase Palin is....It needs to be exposed for all to see once and for all...And we will all support Joe Biden in doing so.

6. I think he should remind her where necessary
to actually answer the question.

10. I totally agree.
Don't let her go away with her non sequiturs!
And don't help her out, kind of "what I think Gov. Palin means is...".

7. I think he should keep giggling behind his hand at her answers,
and muttering things under his breath, like, "Can you believe this?"
and "Holy smokes, she just topped herself there," and "Could we have that translated into English," and "Somebody get a hook." I think everybody would get a kick out of this unexpected tactic, including Sarah herself if I may say so, and it would be a pressure valve release for some of the tension buildup. Do you think he's reading this? I hope so.

9. I'm coming to that view.
I'm sort of worried about tomorrow night. Particularly if he's too nice or deferential to her.

Screw that. The bar of expectations to her can't be any lower. It's to the point where if she just sounds moderately coherent, she'll come off as doing "better than expected". She's in the big leagues now. She agreed to be McCain's running mate. This debate comes with the territory. Treat her as an equal. We know she isn't, but that's how she should be treated. And the American people, as a whole, in this debate, needs to be shown that she is in no way ready to be Vice President...and President, if need be.

11. Not attack her personally, just attack her record
Her record on the environment is abysmal. She lives on a dead lake.

But Biden's focus should be on the Republicans and McCain. Biden should be prepared for a scripted attack on himself made for soundbites, most likely about plagiarism from the old campaign.
