Biden should not go easy on Palin on Thursday.
I'm not saying that he should bully her but odds are Palin is going to be attacking Biden and Obama and Biden shouldn't hold back out of fear that he'll be chastised for bullying a woman. that's such sexist crap anyway. Biden shouldn't treat her any differently just because she's a woman.

10. He will fight back if attacked...
Or if she attacks Obama. That's all I ask.

4. HuffPo: How "palin may have already won the debate"
<http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/30/palin-may-have-already-wo_n_130540.html>

"Now that we expect Palin's debate performance to be disastrous, she only has room to surprise us, just like she did in Minnesota. McCain senior adviser Nicolle Wallace couldn't have said it better: "I seriously hope that people continue to underestimate the most popular governor in America and a woman who speaks to the heart of America's economic angst."

6. As I see it, they are both more or less interviewing for the same job. There's no need
for him to go easy on her. Biden has enough sense to trounce her soundly but respectfully.

7. Keep it to the issues
1. Biden campaigned for President. He's prepared to BE president. He can demonstrate that he brings that to the office. Can she?

2. Governing "experience" - she mismanged the Wasilla budget into multimillion-dollar debt, she's under investigation as governor, she fired people only to hire unqualified personal friends. What "experience"?

3. Women's rights - apparently she framed herself as "for life" in an AK debate. What about charging the victim for their rape kit? What about no abortion in case of rape or incest?

A lot of people don't know her record in Alaska or her positions. She's campaigning for VP on her "record". It's fair game.

8. "There you go again"
Sen. Biden has to focus RELENTLESSLY on McCain. His weapon must be DETAILED analysis and facts about McCain's policies. If he does not get a single laugh, that's okay. This is a time for "grind it out" debate tactics.

The more detailed he is, the more Gov. Palin will look like what she is, which is Caribou Barbie.

Detail and analysis as a weapon. No ad hominem.

9. It would be sexist to take it easy on her just because she is a woman.
Biden needs to treat her just like he's treated everyone else in her position. If she can't take it, she isn't ready.

19. Biden's debated women before in the Senate.
He debated against Senator Clinton in the primaries and didn't come across as bullying.

He'll be fine.

I'd be more worried about the media spinning afterwards than about Biden's actual performance.

He also should not take an easy on her because that would be perceived as condescending and sexist. He's practicing with Gov Granholm and should pretend that is who he is debating.
