John McCain's presidential campaign claimed credit as Congress readied Monday to vote on an emergency economic package.

Romney: "But, you know, this is a bipartisan accomplishment, a bipartisan success. And if people want to get something done in Washington, they just watch John McCain," he said.

10. McCain: "Inaction was not an option." Meanwhile, his colleagues in the GOP House...
... are, well, not acting.

Per Politico:

“Inaction was not an option,” McCain said. “I put my campaign on hold for a couple of days last week to fight for a rescue plan that puts you and your economic security and working families first. I fought for a plan that protected taxpayers I went to Washington last week to make sure the taxpayers of Ohio and across this great country were not left footing the bill."

Even though, McCain never went to Capitol Hill this weekend, he adds:

"I’ll never be a president who sits on the sidelines when this country faces a crisis,” he said. “ I’ll never do it. I know many of you have noticed it’s not my style to simply phone it in."

Fighters belong “in the arena, ” McCain said.

"Sen. Obama took a very different approach to the crisis our country faced,” he said. “At first he didn’t want to get involved, and then he was ‘monitoring the situation.’ That’s not leadership. That’s watching from the sidelines, and watching from the sidelines is exactly what got us into this mess.”

22. What a leader!
Assumes the bill will pass and claims credit. Then his own party kills the bill!

Now the Republicans and McCain own the crashing economy. McCain lost the election today, if Obama didn't already have it wrapped up.

I hope some of you are right and the economy doesn't tank. I'm afraid it will.

40. I agree...
Karma must be pissed off with McCain. She has been giving the old guy nothing but misery lately. However, I think Fate aka her sister is also involved with dishing out the pain. McCain has tempted Fate's wrath by being a cocky little bastard over the years. Now it seems that Fate and Karma have come to collect a overdue debt out of his old ass.

Watching McCain go down in flames is just so funny...
