Obama in the southland - how is it looking 5 weeks out?
Having grown up in conservative GA., I'm thrilled that Obama has a chance to finally break the rightie lock in the south. It seems N.C., VA., and FLA all are within the ballpark as possible wins, albeit an uphill fight.

For those DUers living in the southern red states, are you seeing any real evidence that we can serve up some BLUE grits on election day?

1. I am in a Asheville, NC,
a progressive area of NC, but what I see in all of Western NC is a major movement for Obama. Lots of bumper stickers, yard signs, shirts. Lots of campaigner and volunteers. I have been out knocking on doors and the response is very positive. Voter registration is up, and goals are being surpassed.

NC could very well go Obama, I think it will. I have actually bet on it!

2. I'm in the Atlanta area, live in Woodstock and work in Marietta.
So, far I have seen more Obama bumperstickers than McCain and I live in a very red county.

No McSame bumper stickers, few yard signs. I have been told by several republicans that they are not voting for McSame, but they don't say they will vote for Obama. I'm wondering if Barr is going to be a spoiler here. Bring it on. A vote for Barr is as good as a vote for Obama.
